What is this emlite meter measuring ?

#1

Post by SporranMcDonald »

Hello knowledgeable ones . . . . .

One month after the install of Solar PV.

The Solis Inverter & Pylontech batteries are in the attic.

I have two meters down in the "electrics corner" in the kitchen.

I'm pretty sure that the SDM120CT cassette-type mini meter in the box on the left is connected directly to the solis Inverter and is showing the EXPORT kWhs . This matches the reported value on the Solis Information System for Total Export.

The value on the emlite meter on the right is close to - but doesn't quite match - the Solis Info. System value for "Load / Total Consume Energy" (sic)
[ However, if I add the emlite value to the Total-grid-Import for the duration I can get close 120.34 + 5.98 = 125. ( kWhs) ].

I guess that the emlite meter is showing the Total PV generation + the Grid Import ?
Maybe that "IMP" marker against the emlite value is a bit misleading ( it never changes ) ?

The Emlite meter is just showing the total produced by the PV system.
3.87kWp PV
10.24kWp PV SolarEdge system
Tesla Powerwall 2
100 x 47mm Navitron tubes (still being installed!) Now likely to be removed for more PV.

Ok, thanks. That makes sense. It confirms comments on various sources that the Solis Info Systems ( App & Cloud ) has to be treated as "Indicative" rather than precise values.

Whilst it's all new & fresh in your mind, my thought would be to print out & label kit to be referred to on an A4 laminated sheet pinned to the wall for reference by anyone unfamiliar to be able to make head & tail of the kit, & in case you need to get someone to play with it whilst you are on the other end of a phone, far away.

Ref. " I'm pretty sure that the SDM120CT cassette-type mini meter in the box on the left is connected directly to the solis Inverter and is showing the EXPORT kWhs . This matches the reported value on the Solis Information System for Total Export. "

Where is this SDM120CT cassette-type mini meter.

Can you post a picture of it.

With out knowing where the current transformer on the DM120CT meter is connected. It is not known what the meter is displaying.

What are the Modbus connections for on the meter. Is it just for a remote display. ?

Cant find any information in English about the DM120CT. I would have thought it was for measuring in one direction only. ?

Thanks Chris for the English translation.
The current transformer is only rated at 5 amps. ??
What the display shows / Logs above this setting is unknown.
How many K.W. of P.V. panels have you got. ?
Is the RS232 connected to the inverter ?
Picture inside the metal box would be use full.

Yes, that mini-meter has a direct line up to the Solis Inverter.

The #2 & #3 pictures in the original post are inside the metal box [ on the Left-hand-side in picture #1 ].

Thanks
