VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
Given that their government is currently backtracking against the European directives for ICE phase out dont hold your breath for anything positive from any German auto manufacturer - once again if proof were needed when it comes to the euro zone its "do as we say not as we do " for the two big euro players.

Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
But it has in China, they are selling 4 to 5000 a month, so the car exists in production!

Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
That looks like quite a different beast - much smaller & shorter - also sounds like a VW badged cheap and nasty car from a make you've never heard of.
The ID.2 or Id.Golf, or whatever they decide to call it could be a good motor - no silly 0-60 high performance necessary, just a good car at a good price - hopefully......

Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
But that is what I want - cheap, no frills and compact, No silly infotainment screens, 20" alloys, etc, etc, and no £30 to £40k price tag.
Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
The clever software is so far ahead of itself they don't know what it does themselves it seems.
I would also love a smaller version of the leaf, with a fast charging capability & 150 miles of range with one small screen that just displays maps, radio,
power consumption etc, because that's how you get everyone in an ev at every level, via second hand sales & the ability to afford insurance, tax etc.
(I note the EX10 seems to have 2 screens though MM)

I'd like a 300 mile capable leaf and I'd be all over that. Like the look of the EX10.Mr Gus wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:46 pm The clever software is so far ahead of itself they don't know what it does themselves it seems.

Look what they did when they sold off the vauxhall astra design, ...revenue stream for nissan considering they don't want to do small cars.

There's a 300-mile iD3 if you can find a Tour!Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:59 pmI'd like a 300 mile capable leaf and I'd be all over that. Re: VW unveils the iD2 - an actual small BEV
I looked at it back in yon time but it just wasn't quite the thing. Not sure why tbh as it's a cracking looking car. Could have been dieselgate aftertaste combined with my being miffed at how late to the EV party they were.Stinsy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 7:45 pmThere's a 300-mile iD3 if you can find a Tour!Joeboy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 5:59 pmI'd like a 300 mile capable leaf and I'd be all over that. I love our Hyundai I5 but even it isn't an 'ultimate' vehicle for me. I think we are still early adopters and so can be a little 'hmmn' now and then. If we could combine Chinese pushing the innovation edge along with Japanese (think Toyota, hah) levels of design and material quality along with a nod to K car design then we'd be smoking!
