Long time no see

#1

Post by djh »

Just discovered this forum, and hoping not to get thrown off it as I was on the old one :( It was a long time ago and I don't remember exactly when or why. I see some familiar names here. So I think since then

I've built a certified passivhaus that we now live in (passive slab floor, lime rendered straw bale walls, aluminium standing seam roof with 4 kWp PV)

I've recently bought an EV (MG5 LR) and an Ohme Go charger (we got a dumb one free when we built the house)

Welcome DJH. I think there are several here who got thrown off the other place, mostly for reasons unknown! Perhaps we should start an exiles section here for those that were excommunicated . . .

I seem to remember your build from somewhere. We also built a near-passive house a few years ago, didn't bother with certification, although in practice it seems to perform well within the PHI requirements. I was very focussed on energy reduction when building it, but now we've been living here for several years it's the comfort, great air quality and almost total silence that are the things we appreciate more than anything else.

I was wondering when you'd find us DJH, good to see you (as it were)
Don't remember you getting nuked, to be honest I thought you were already here under a fresh moniker.
We've just had a chin-wag here on that very subject, (nuking at st elsewhere)
Did the jungle telegraph find you or merely a chance find?

Which dumb charger did you get incidentally? (talk here of commando plugs if *powers* take control (or there's always a granny plug as a stop gap)

There was me enjoying my new found retirement this week then Mr Gus has to spoil it by finding me hiding elsewhere. I see a lot of familiar faces have already made it back.

Am I the only one who didn't get banned from the other place? Feel like I've missed out!

Anyway - welcome (back).

No Dan, you are not alone, I didn't get banned but I did get a hand slap once for heated political arguing (I thought debate?) :D

As I think this forum has shown for the most part we are self policing and able to enjoy a healthy flow of debate and opinions :D
