Octopus Smart Meter? Thoughts!!

Export Meter.
Export Meter.

I have a standard import export meter as pictured.
My PV generates 4000+ kWh and I use 500-600 kWh import from the grid.
I have solar thermal so export a lot for around 8 months of the year.
I am with octopus, would the meter fit in place of existing green meter?
Any suggestions which tariff would work best with a smart meter, factoring in my low imported power?

Be careful with Octopus, I am having massive problems getting them to fit a smart meter because I transfered from Bulb. They will not even give me a date for when they will restart fitting.

If you export a lot I think you need to look at flux as the export rates are double anything else available amd the cheap import for 3 hours in the morning might be all you need.

Yes plenty room for the meter.
Mine went in a few months ago, it annoyed that they removed my double pole isolation after the meter, but I’ll just wait until the next power cut and fit a new one

Thanks Krill and Agt.

Will look into flux tariff and approach Octopus regarding meter, was unsure it would fit as thought may be quite a bit larger than original!

To be fair to Octopus, I''ve had them install smart meters in two properties now, one residential (gas and electric) and one commercial (three phase electric, not gas) and both times it went like clockwork.

Took me six months for Octopus to agree to install smart meter! They kept telling me the local WAN signal was too weak!

Eventually they agreed and said its on me if it does not work! Nice chap came out and even installed an arial and additional in meter box isolator!

In my flat I was originally on EDF and had them install smart meters - they came and did the electricity one, but said that the gas meter location was too far away from the electricity meter for it to get a signal, so they didn't do the gas one. Octopus took over my account and switched the smart meter completely fine.

Just email Octopus and ask them to fit one for you.
I didn't have one before they fitted my smart meter but they still came back and fitted one free of charge when I emailed them a year after the meter install.

Octopus fitted smart meter today, export process is now started!
Krill mentioned: If you export a lot, I think you need to look at flux as the export rates are double anything else available and the cheap import for 3 hours in the morning might be all you need.
I have looked into Flux T@C mention battery storage is needed for this tariff, but no mention of the size or type!
Could anyone recommend a cheap storage option to be able to tick this box and sign up to this tariff, or do I just go for Outgoing??
