Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Finally some of the shading coming off the back garden generation and its sunny.

That's brilliant Nowty keeping the veggie plots frost free into the bargain.

Clear skys and bright sunshine round my way. Shame the panels are covered in snow!

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
When Nowty posted earlier we had 56W showing!
Now at 800W from PV which feels epic.
Also my single 12V battery hooked up to the turnip has risen from 12.25V to 12.3V. Perversely I cannot bring myself to use the flourescent home connected striplights in the garage any more. Instead I use the 12V battery/WT connected led striplight and the 3.6V green led's on the LF280's.
A show of solidarity or sign of mental decline? I'm easy either way.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I use a few spare panels on my decking area in winter which are connected to a couple of Tigo's (voltage optimisers) to increase the yield in one of my strings (far left in the picture). They are pointed easterly as that the only direction which still gets some sun in the winter.
In early spring I normally remove the temporary panels or else the Tigo's risk being overloaded. They can take a max of 70V, 12A and 500W. I'm assuming 70V is the open circuit voltage and the operating voltage will be a bit lower.
At this time of year I lose generation late in the day as the sun has gone right around to a westerly direction. I noticed last week that the new version of the Tigo has increased power handling, 80V, 15A and 700W so I had to have one.
Now I can connect a pair of temporary panels facing west in summer for that little bit extra if I need it.
You can see the increase in power when I disconnected the string and reconnected with the new Tigo and extra panels.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I have added my second winter panel pair to the mix with the newer higher power Tigo's.
I need some more solar cable and MC4's to space them better.
So its off to the leccy wholesaler in the EV.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Of the 450,000 litres of rain water harvested Could 3 litres be used for a bit of panel cleaning.

But no need at the moment as the inverter is on the limiter,
