Balcony solar PV
Re: Balcony solar PV
Funny how one thing leads to another. This is purely a mental exercise on 'what if'?
IF the microinverter works out well at No1's house it would open up the potential for small scale solar here at Turk home.
Took a quick measure this morning (oh dear, Rubicon crossed) and we have a nice 2.5mtr x 1mtr vertical wall on the upper rear balcony. The loungers are normally rotated through 90 I can tag into the home circuit (network booster) with one hole drilled in outer wall. Could probably fit about 400W worth of perc cut panels on that wall.
Hmmmn, oversize suitcase allowance is how much weight for how much cash....
Purely a mental exercise.
Although for the first time in 15 years I've looked at our electric meter and noted readings, let's just see shall we?

lots of possible "on brand" electricians jokes about that fuseboard (fnar) & the "red raw" master switch.
are they in turkish abbreviations or english, feint pencil is hard to tell, get thee some tiny stickers laddy.

Re: Balcony solar PV
Nah, it's not failed me yet, apart from one breaker needing replaced a few years ago. Thanks anyway.

Re: Balcony solar PV
Quick fast & dirty test on one panel. Absolutely effortless hook up and operation at half four. Total convert.
A close up of my horrendous test lead.
The software is good enough and I now have a new phone app (cloud intelligence). I'm going to (weather permitting) hook up this panel AM and see what the MI will output in good conditions. Got a funeral in Glasgow Friday and Italy in about a week. Hopefully get it all in place over this weekend.

Re: Balcony solar PV
Very good but that panel support frame has its fingers over some of the cells, you might want to mention that if that frame is going to be in use for any length of time

Re: Balcony solar PV
Voltage not too high either even through the extension lead and with all your other solar generating.
Have you tested the voltage on the plug pins after you unplugged it to check if it anti Islands, i.e. the voltage cuts off.

Re: Balcony solar PV
That's on tomorrow morning test, was going to this evening but ive been up since yesterday morning, ran out of gusto! Cheers though Nowty.
It's a very slick, simple bit of kit. Plug it in, seeing the led flash red from PV power, throw wall switch, red blue red blue then solid blue as it shoved the 250VAC, that was excellent. I'll be airgapping the unit to help with natural convection. Hoping that as its a 1600W capable unit running at max of 800W we should see a long life from it.
I'm impressed.
