National Grid to release 10GW of capacity

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Interesting changes in connection policy here to speed up and increase renewable generation capacity generation

Hopefully that will speed things along at KH and maybe let them get on grid sooner ?

Hopefully won't apply to KH as these connections are in the interim constrained.

"Through a new agreement with the ESO, projects that require additional transmission network reinforcement will be offered the chance to connect now under an interim, non-firm connection arrangement. In return for an earlier connection, the interim arrangements would mean some projects could be curtailed when there is too much generation on the system, such as on some of the windiest and sunniest summer days."

Nowty,

Thanks for that update, what is the KH grid connection date now is it still January 2024? I realy need to start paying more attention to the KH ripple site now.

Roughly Jan, maybe a bit later but almost certainly before 1st April as thats when the first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been proposed to start. If it gets connected before 1st April, all generation before 1st April will be paid for at live market prices.

We won't get paid until May (for April) but any initial income will be added onto the first years rebates.

Cheers Nowty,

Hope its nice and sunny with you, we have a lovely hazy sunshine up here and the battery bank is charging nicely, might even have to plug the EV in later to soak up some solar. It will be great for the parent in laws next door as this will almost close the loop on their power needs in winter, their solar system has been keeping them off grid from March onwards so hoping KH fills in the rest for them.
