That must have upped the output of those panels a bit.nowty wrote: ↑Mon Sep 11, 2023 6:46 pm I've been up on the roof today cleaning my panels and emptying the crud from my gutters.
I use a Via Ferrata harness and clip onto some metalwork for safety. Today I've also been using a climbing rope I recently bought with an abseiling attachment. I can now practically hang off the edge of my roof.

Can you fit anymore panels in that space, no wonder you are keeping the grid afloat

Interestingly, the dirty ones I cleaned in the pics are on the NE side so don't get the driving rain.Moxi wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 8:35 am One of the few benefits of a very exposed westerly aspect at height and in a wet part of the country is that the panels routinely get power washed by momma nature . Which is a good job because Momma nature is equally really rubbish at leaving the big yellow light on full round here so I need the panels to be clean and efficient to harvest what I can, fortunately they are just going through the rinse cycle again.

The ones on my SW side (shown below) didn't need as much attention.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
You have listed that you have got 12 panels.
My Maths is not Tooo good. But I thought I could count more than 12. ?
Or was it Mr Yuffs post that said I have got 12.

12 kW of panels in my sig but its actually 13 kW if you add the temporary ones freestanding on the decking. Unfortunately the rear garden ones suffer severe shading Oct to Feb.ALAN/ALAN D wrote: ↑Tue Sep 12, 2023 9:45 am You have listed that you have got 12 panels.

I think its 48 panels, but every time I count them in my head, I get a slightly different number.

My first meaningful power import since 12th May, the EV was hungry.
But going to be more than offset by my share of intraday generation on the Ripple Graig Fatha windfarm.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I am hoping/expecting the combination of waning solar and rising wind generation to see us through into Nov with a rising VB. Dec start to be neutral and Jan start to be first bill reducing the VB from a start point of 70%.
Should be able to squeak through to Spring and Kirkhill first (monster) payment from the Jan to April spot price generation then April's 1st of the fixed rate, all to be paid In May.
Well that's my gameplan anyway!
I am genuinely interested not for the financials but the logistics whether or not they will bring the turbines online as and when they are ready post grid connection. I'd like that.
There is already a drop down box on the insights app page just waiting to be populated.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
My VB is now down to 72% after taking a £1k withdrawal.
And the current high payout till March means I'm likely to end the winter with a higher VB than at the start.
Next year I am expecting a much lower rebate but still should be higher than the IO cheap rate and once KH gets going then it will be withdrawal all the way, then there is Derril Water later in the year.

BOOM!
Nice one Nowty, 'fail to plan, plan to fail'.
You are reaping the rewards of NOT living that way.
