Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage

Mostly posting this for those guys who are getting into IO.
Thought about this today after posting last night. Maybe the nights I plug in EV but get no schedule are the nights it's default (23.30 to 05.30), just a thought.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I don't need it either, but increase SOC to 100%, turn down the charge rate in the EV APP and 14+ hrs cheap rate without a break.
EDIT - I've now stopped the charge by turning down the SOC target in the EV app, but I'm leaving the octopus app open with the schedule still showing and will report back when the bill for this day comes in.

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Nice, I tend to throttle my charge rate to get me to where I want to be and half an eye on the possibility of further charging in the AM for EV. Charging the homestack the noo just for the craick.nowty wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 6:55 pm I don't need it either, but increase SOC to 100%, turn down the charge rate in the EV APP and 14+ hrs cheap rate without a break.

Nowty if the charge stops then you’ll get off peak until the half hour ends.nowty wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 6:55 pm I don't need it either, but increase SOC to 100%, turn down the charge rate in the EV APP and 14+ hrs cheap rate without a break.

You only need to get a schedule at 1pm and can drop the charge rate in the octopus app and you have cheap electric until 1:30pm.
The EV does not even need to start a charge

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
Actually I’ve never tried that, it would be handy if it workednowty wrote: ↑Mon Sep 18, 2023 6:55 pm I don't need it either, but increase SOC to 100%, turn down the charge rate in the EV APP and 14+ hrs cheap rate without a break.

I have had a situation where I got a schedule and octopus lost contact with the vehicle whilst plugged in and I did get off peak for the duration even though no charging happened……….
When is your next bill?

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
I'm very interested in this experiment. I plan to plug in as soon as my house battery is exhausted this winter which can be as soon as 1630 on the darkest days. I can then take advantage of extra slots where they are given. Obviously a BEV on high SoC would defeat my attempts to get additional slots...nowty wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 9:19 amNext bill should be next week.Yuff wrote: ↑Tue Sep 19, 2023 8:14 am Actually I’ve never tried that, it would be handy if it worked

Re: Nowty Towers Vs UK Grid Storage
9hrs tonight. I like it!
I prefer the 04.00hrs finish for the earlier evening slots that we can easily use.
