Al how will the lead removal affect the trim of the barge ? Will you need to re ballast or were the batteries pretty central ?

Well it is a bit cramped in the 'Battery chest' currently 2 x strings of Hoppekke 2v HPzS 930Ah C5 50.2Kg each x 24 = 1,200Kg (I misremembered the weight)

It's actually in the worst place possible for trim, they're close to the bow, because the 3000w @ 24v crane hydraulics are there.

But.. it's a 1922 38 x 5m barge currently i'd guess about 130T, designed for 350T Gross (250T cargo), the 'meetbrief' (ships papers) displacement chart shows it needs 1.8T (evenly placed) for every 1cm lower in the water. We have a real problem with our prop being too high, even with 30+ tons of gravel ballast + 25 tons of concrete blocks, with 2000l water tanks, 3500l sewage treatment plant, then all our other Sh*t.. :) So with the batteries near the bow, if we can remove them we might gain 2cm ish at the stern. 8-)

A few photos to show a bit, including engine room - one day electric would be nice... But sorry it's not 100% battery build

I reckon if there was a 'best photo set' of the year competition you'd win Al. Just brilliant. I want to get in about that engine room. :D

Keep your optimism Colin! You have great language and sales skills as well as knowledge of the battery industry. They won't be the last company to mess you around with your commission, try not to spend too much energy getting angry about it. I'm sure you learned a lot and are now more employable than when you joined them! Get yourself out there and I'm sure you'll find something better. There are large number of Chinese companies wanting to sell tech into English-speaking markets and most of them do a frankly terrible job. They need you!

If you do start up on your own Colin, I could be interested at some point in a further set of 15 Grade A LF280's 6,000 cycle with busbars and welded posts.

Hoping to see a price cut if you can catch the last of the LF280's lower capacity units as they are moved out for the higher capacity 300's.

Cheers.
