That is a great price. I reckon i'd have that in my shopping basket in passing while out to buy a slab of beer. 'Oh look love, it was on offer'! Seriously, I hope they fly off the shelves. The simplicity of install, connection and cumulative effect are not to be underestimated.

By now No1 would have the storage heater on at his. The Hoymiles powerhouse has held that day off by running his small panel heater through the day. I am confident that next year it will make him essentially grid free through the Summer. It will also continue to assist through the Winter.

I never quite get over the way we just switch them on and that's it, no drama no hassle. Does its thing for years and years and years. At 700 Euro that experience is suddenly accessible to a HUGE consumer base.

Tay will find this out when he plugs his in. It doesn't need the app and will just get on with cutting his grid bill. App later will download the unit stored data.

Mine is hooked up on the desk, single panel hooked up to it, hardly any PV but were are in the middle of a rain weather warning so I cant complain too much



All setup tks to Fueltheburn, I'm having fun with WiFi but it wouldn't be a normal day without that and nothing to do with the Hoymiles unit.

I know the unit is generating from PV from the little green LED light of joy, it was utterly painless to install too as you mentioned.
I didn't feel that I was about to get electrocuted once with this kit it feels very well made and worthy of the German tag (despite it being made in China).

The nasty YVC (or whatever it was called) copycat kit pales in comparison to this. Despite the dire weather its still giving me a Mac Studio lump of power for my troubles just not quite the monitor too , Just a single panel atm, but with a static solution now being considered an finance available this will be my mains fill-in from the small PV panels on the pergola.




As this shows, anything below 250-350ish means the unit is providing power to the house, looking at the chart it was pushing in nearly 200w's at one point. This is the actual draw from the grid, so lower is better.

I did just call Bimble in relation to the bundle they have for sale with a view of whether they might sell and support the microinverters on their own.

I expressed an interest in potentially getting more of these possibly for family members etc and that I'm sure once people found out about them that more people might wish to get hold of them and whether they might begin to import them and offer support (docs etc) going forwards, also whether the Hoymiles unit might be sold separately.

They chatted to one of their engineers who suggested that its a bit of an experiment at this time, there is currently no plans to offer the Microinverter on its own right now, although mine was the 2nd call they had today regarding this. They were going to keep an eye on the calls/interest and it might be something they consider in future should the demand be there.

Obviously more demand hopefully means reduced costs and more local support, fingers crossed as this could be something more folks could benefit from that were perhaps reluctant to go down the importing route, especially with the delays that I saw.

So, for me its not so much how much PV I generate to charge my batteries it how little power I get from the grid.

Hoymiles is a whole different beastie, not even the same thing in any fashion. Which is nice.

If I was you Tay, I'd go ahead with quotes for the possible PV but I'd defo have a couple of ground mounts even if temporary running back through that Hoymiles. Gives ye time to assess while being in the game. Tie wraps are a godsend.

Its a little bit political

The wife wants to ensure that the roof option is investigated first, if that means we cant get panels or its simply not economically viable compared to generating upwards of 2-3KW via the fence idea, then she'll let me play, uping the pergola panel sizes and get some 500-600ish w's panels on the fence/new build.

Alas, if this is how it has to go then then so be it.
