Slide towards Winter

#1

Post by Joeboy »

With a near foot of snow in the Cairngorms I'm calling it. Shoulder season has arrived.

We are getting away with 19kWh power bought each day to minimal heat home and run up HWT for a couple of hours. Enough to run a decent home away from for No1 son.

From a 25% soc at sunrise we are seeing a max of 60% by close of play but in truth 35% is closer to average.

Small gains I know but they are enough to hopefully chuck 10% into the VB at start Nov.

This is about as good a place in RE as I've been (so far).

How you guys doing?

Well I reset the heating programmer back to factory default and looked at the weather compensation on the Gas CH.

I was working from home today, so as an experiment I had a 30minute CH burn to check temps etc, so that’s that set for 5:45-6:15 to keep SWMBO happy as first floor toilet sitting at 16.9 deg C sucking up the hallway heat.

Outside air 9Deg

Worst October ever for me (NE England system), just 1.1kW generated today from 3.75kW of panels. I have had 15 days of under 5kW generated this month

Not turned the heating on yet! My little flat is pretty well insulated it would seem.

Office solar array is noticeably on the downward slope and falling fast - midday peaks are down to 4kW (11kWp) and noticeably shorter generation period. Plus the gas central heating is on here.

We are living downstairs. Used 16kWh of gas between 00;00 and about 0730h but only 2kWh since. There is an electric load of about 300-350W towards the east-facing far end of the house, which is unavoidable, but helps a bit with the heating.

If only! My two girls could flatten a 210ltr hwt cylinder between them in the morning. I tried hard over the years to get them to reduce this but they instinctively ganged up on me.

There has been microscopic improvements over the years which they are both inordinately proud of. Yes, its a lost cause. :D
