Email back from Octopus:
"At the moment, Intelligent Octopus Go is only compatible with the Lite version of Outgoing Octopus. This is because they are both billed to those smart half-hourly readings you mentioned from the same meter, and due to the BETA nature of both tariffs, our system can't differentiate between import and export with these readings.
This is something our Smart Tariff team are continuously looking into, whilst also waiting for the tech to catch up to what we want to achieve!"
Eh???
That reply makes absolutely no sense to me. The only difference between the Lite and non-Lite versions of Outgoing Fixed is the rate 8p or 15p.
Their reply is total garbage. The true explanation seems to be in their own FAQs
"Until very recently, customers couldn’t combine an Octopus EV tariff with Outgoing Octopus for the simple fact that both tariffs were such stonkingly good deals that combining them was effectively a ‘double discount’. We regularly review our tariffs based on market changes and wholesale energy prices, and recently made the decision to change this.
We’re offering customers on Intelligent Octopus the standard Outgoing Fixed price of 15p/kWh because the grid flexibility their smart charging unlocks means greater cost savings.
But we’d never want Octopus Go customers to miss out – so we created a Lite version of the Outgoing Fixed tariff to give you extra reward for your solar too."
This pays 8p not 15p/unit.

When I was getting my smart meter and EV charger installed by Octopus (not at the same time), I had several replies to emails on the lines of "it is a different department, so please contact x @ octopus.
I was always surprised that they did not understand how to forward emails themselves.
It's odd how they are so on the ball and innovative in most respects, but some basic bits of customer service seem to elude them. Maybe it is a consequence of having good principles, objectives, and specialists - but neglecting the need for competent/well-trained generalists...

Hi ,
Thank you for your email.
So the smart team let us know that we can’t add the export on currently due to the Export MPAN not being recognised as Export. They have sent off a flow to hopefully get Ecoes updated so we can then raise the issue with the LLF (what we use to determine whether it’s exported or not.
Please check back with me next week on the status of this, and I apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Best wishes,
Liv A

When I changed to Octopus and included Outgoing, they messed about for a bit - including charging me for the power I was exporting - as they had it as import instead of export!!!
All sorted now, although I am now on Flux for import - for some reason they seem unable to put my export on Flux, despite already having Outgoing set up and them receiving 1/2 hourly readings. At this time of year it doesn't make any difference really, but some March / April, will make a difference with peak export rate between 4 & 7pm
Solar PV since July '22:

3.6kW Sunsynk hybrid inverter
2x 5.12kWh Sunsynk batteries
1.6kWp Hoymiles East/West facing PV on the man cave
Ripple DW 2kW
Ripple WB 200W
Email from octopus today confirming all up and running and backdated to 14th October.
Unfortunately not much exported over that time but I’m going to discharge some battery right now
