New on-shore wind turbine idea (Yep, another one)

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Good design adds simplicity, this just adds a long chain, rope or belt running in a track adding frictional losses. Bet the start up wind speed is higher than a normal turbine due to the higher stiction adding to its inefficiency.

Movement around the track could be converted to generation at any of the fixed points.

I know cynicism is always a hood starting point, but it would be interesting if the concept was valid
Yep, that's what I eventually realised, after first thinking they were the vibrating pole idea.

I really hope the idea is viable and economical, as it would open up the smaller wind generation market (I think). But my first gut reaction was not good, not good at all.

Would be fun to watch though. Maybe each sail could have a picture of a horse on it, and at the right speed, we'd get to see the horse running, like those early moving picture devices.

i think thats part of the problem, what you see is what they have. Even if they have some sort of mock up video that simulates the process would be better than a picture and a static 'thing'

Before I pay too much consideration to this I'd like to see a working prototype on whatever scale they have. No evidence that I could find that a working anything exists except their word for it. Even a very basic fluid dynamics simulation on a PC would suffice to get me thinking positively.

With AI, literally anybody can throw something together for a demo yet nothing of substance that I could find.

I keep think of Newton's 3rd law. "To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction", whatever those wings do, has to be totally negated for the return trip or it never moves.

I'd be happy to be proven wrong but it does kinda smack of new ideas, but no working evidence.

Anyway, heres my latest design its utterly unique and designed by AI

Even if this works, (which I doubt), how does it scale?

Bigger track introduces a much larger footprint and I'm sure the frictional losses become horrible very quickly.

But then again how does it actually work?
If the wind is blowing from lets say the West and all the poles in the "Front" are pushed one way by the wind, why are the ones which are returning round not then effectively pushed the "other" direction by the very same wind. Resulting in the track not going anywhere at all?

And how is the power actually generated? What's this murky sounding "power take-off"?

Ah man, the best! You've seen it to the end where that sketch picks up again after the credits?
