Re: Small things matter
Nah, no sandals
There again, still in Lanza.
Home at the weekend for a few weeks - yep, will still be in shorts and sandals, though I’ve just ordered some Barefoot Shoes.
Sure I’m turning into a Bleepy hobbit
I claim the all year shorts habit because my Grandad (never met him) was a Postie.
Somerset is acceptable to wear shorts and sandals all year - been up to London and got the nutter look.
Dundee in March was interesting

That's around about the amount I end up with , no point in just making enough for one supper.Joeboy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:41 pm SWMBO is happy and absolutely agrees on upvc not being bonnie.
Trying out the 2 gallon cooking pot on house WBS for a chilli con HUGE batch cook. If it doesn't get quite enough heat i"ll try it on the full open top WBS in the cabin this evening. It was started on the induction hob. Should be enough for twenty.

Re: Small things matter
, going in heavy with the beans then bring it up to full temp with dried cayenne. I prefer to leave chilli & curry for 24/36 hours before eating. Batch cooking does make me appreciate the life flexibility of a chest freezer, daft though that may sound.Fintray wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 4:50 pmThat's around about the amount I end up with , no point in just making enough for one supper.Joeboy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 12:41 pm SWMBO is happy and absolutely agrees on upvc not being bonnie.

I normally add a variety of beans rather than just kidney beans, it definitely does taste better once all the flavours have had a chance to infuse throughout.

Re: Small things matter
Got to be done - I honestly think it’s healthier. OK, if it’s peeing down and blowing a houli, no.
Walking through snow - no.
But, I do think, particularly down here, it’s acceptable, although you do still get the rep of the bloke that wears shorts all the time
Doesn’t help that I use my old ‘work’ bike bag/pannier (Basil - Dutch Company) looks like a satchel.
My mate’s (local butcher) Mum calls me ‘The Schoolboy’.
At 66, I’ll take that

Re: Small things matter
I agree. I also believe anything slow cooked, after cooking, needs to be left for 24 hours to ‘mature’ before eating.
Taste and texture improve.

Re: Small things matter
Same here, this chilli will slow cook overnight on the WBS. Beans and finishers in tomorrow. Daughterly in Edinburgh hS already booked a couple out.Bugtownboy wrote: ↑Tue Nov 21, 2023 5:39 pmI agree. Kids love to be independent don’t they?
In fairness, it’s great they remain contact.
Aye, right enough. Pretty excellent indeed.
