I'm pretty sure I could cover the floor with hand-knotted Persian (or Turkish).rugs fir that money. Coming from a remote operated vehicle background this solution appeals to me. Although not to the tune of 8k.
I.took a moment to check.the average surface temp of my floor. The average is around 16 degs. It is 20mm solid maple laid onto 16mm (guess) chipboard. In the extension I already laid in fibrewool insulation in suspended net pockets when doing that build. I'm not negative on the concept as such but it would need a good operator to ensure even cover in a changing environment
That 8k though....
This is from the company unsolicited, later in the day.

Q- Bot Installation enquiry - Last few survey dates available
Hi Joe,
Good afternoon and thanks for your recent enquiry regarding Q- Bot.
Q-Bot uses a powerful robot to remotely apply insulation to the underside of suspended floors. The robot is inserted under the floor through a small opening, surveys the void and condition of the floor, applies a spray foam to the underside of the floorboards, and verifies the area and depth of insulation applied. This keeps the floor surface warm, while maintaining ventilation within the floor void and allowing ground moisture to escape.
Q-Bot has revolutionised the way underfloor insulation is delivered, ensuring minimal disruption to your daily life. Installs typically take 1-2 days, and there is no need to remove furniture or lift up all the floorboards.
The benefits of insulating the floor with Q-Bot are:
· Reduce heat loss through the floor by 79%.
· Stop draughts across the whole house by 30%.
· Improve EPC by 2-6 points.
· Save on average £260/year.
· Tackle climate change: measure is carbon neutral within 1.2 years.
Q-Bot are happy to answer any questions you might have, you can also find useful information here
The next step is to find out if your home is suitable for our robotic underfloor insulation. Please click the link here to proceed with payment and secure your survey.
I look forward to speaking with you soon.
Have a great day.
Kind regards

Obviously someone bullsh*tting from a script.
Exactly 79%? Pull another one!
Stops draughts by 30%? Wouldn’t that depend on the current amount of draughtiness?
A good idea, I think, but a hugely exaggerated quotation.
Like my double glazing, a long time ago. Started around £4k, very quickly reduced to £3.6k and finished at £2.4k.
I wonder, was this guy selling double glazing at some time in his life?
I also had a Voicemail from them but I didn't put my number in. Don't like that..

I've come to the conclusion this kind of stuff is bollocks on older properties having been up close and personal with the roof type stuff several times.
We saw no end of damp problems in the rafters due to every tiny ingress of water being unable to dry out and building up over time.
Just by chance also I spent last week insulating out suspended floor in the through room, with a sleeper wall every 1.2m you would have to remove quite a lot of floorboards to get the bot down between each sleeper, so what happens to the boards lifted, or do you need to leave a bot down there forever after it finds it is trapped. As for it being able to negotiate all the obsticles, no chance!!
I spent 6 days doing it with 8 sheets of 75mm PU and 3 cans of squirty foam and 1 roll of rockwool for those hard to get at gaps total cost 350 for the bits and say 300/day for my labour, so a touch over 2 grand all in.
Somehow I don't think Mr Q bot is going to be very busy.
Had me at that straight away lol. Love it.
Smacks of the usual 'double glazing 50% off if you sign now for my managers special' load of tosh.
Not that it sounds remotely sensible nor practical to me in the first instance.
Wont even mention the ridiculus cost. £8k! You could probably lift the joists and boards, build up, insulate to Regs standards then concrete/screed the floor for less!

Mortgage hesitancy of sprayed foam is overblown and old news.
It's not different from a roof but from the nature of the area is not as "problematic" when you combine it with the sorry state of UK construction and skills/knowledge.
That's the sticking point, a full reverb is better and similar cost of there are no setbacks.... It's targeted towards HOA or other entities where removing people has a huge cost effect down stream so 8K is a bargain to "modernise" the stock.

It wasn't old news to my mate in Northern Ireland or overblown. It was brand new news hot off the press and it was a very much unappreciated hurdle in an already stressful process.
Just because 'we' know something doesn't mean that 10's of 000's aren't sitting on an unwelcome future surprise. Imagine going to downsize when older or moving into assisted living. Sorry pal, the roof has got to come off, you better hope you don't miss the slot in that spot you chose.
