Small things matter
Re: Small things matter
I can vouch for it being much more powerful than my old single blade fan.

It has been put to work to fast dry lines of uhu glue today. Further wombling, today is No1's old bathroom tidy basket unit. It is being repurposed as a wall hanger shelf unit for food tins in the garage.
Should hold 24 to 32 tins once finished. Really enjoying the process as it's brain disconnect harmless pottering with a tiny wee bit of purpose.
Hardboard, in fact everything is from stock items. I think I'll make the wall hanging tabs out of old pieces of 13mm copper tube.
It is upside down in photo.
Shelving is similar to PV panels, there is no upper limit.

The more you have, the more important stock rotation becomes!Shelving is similar to PV panels, there is no upper limit
We have odd old things/cans bought as strategic reserve (or received as presents, put away and forgotten) which have to be scrutinised very carefully before use when we rediscover them!

I resonate with that. Daughterly gave us a 1ltr bottle of Baileys at Christmas which had best before Dec 21 on it. It is brilliant, has lost some of the fluffiness of Baileys new and has a slightly deeper warmth to it.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 4:04 pmThe more you have, the more important stock rotation becomes!Shelving is similar to PV panels, there is no upper limit

Re: Small things matter
A self induced stress test day today. Left the EV charging at too high a rate.
Started day with only 45% soc in stack, double with added .
Fortunately the big thing in the sky is showing off today and we have 3/4kW PV generation, hoping for my first 2024 1kW generation later.
Air compressor & kettle have been on, SWMBO is away out walking with pals. I am playing about with my tin store using existing stored energy in the power tools.
This gives me an excellent chance for a early, early Winter test.
08.00hrs 45% soc
10.30hrs 47% soc
WBS is on doing its thang and we are self powering and power storing on the 6th Jan 2024. That is a PB.

Re: Small things matter
That was a ridiculously enjoyable projectette.
Might have created something cool(ish)? Certainly better on our wall than in a landfill.
There is something so simple and satisfying in Wombling. I had thought about refining it further with more sanding and further varnish coats but that way lies further madness. Best to stop now.

Re: Small things matter
Good job... why can't I find a "thumbs up" emoji?
I have just finished fitting new jaws to my workmate. The old ones were very tatty after several decades (ab)use and son #2 found a source for new jaws for the older cast aluminium workmate he inherited last year - so I added my order on to his Christmas present. It's as good as (probably better than) new now.

Re: Small things matter
That is a very good question. I get one by typing 'good'. We'll see about a perma addition. May you have many, many projects on your refurbished workmate.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 1:12 pm Good job... why can't I find a "thumbs up" emoji?

SWMBO has returned and is vac'ing for Scotland at the moment. That'll be the end of the charging run then! A pity as we were at 54% soc from a 45% start and we continue to have a half kW descending incoming.
Edit- 15.25hrs on the 6th January. PV generation finished for the day. It was under 3kWh for the day but we felt it.
I put this down.to having control of the background load and it having been mightily jumped on and reduced over the years. Obvious I know but maybe not known to all? Insulate as much as you can and reduce your background load as far as you can. It makes a huge difference in the shoulder months and even here in Winter when the circumstances are right.
The rack is up and filled with the first things to hand. Fortunately that turned out to be the essential food groups (beer, chopped tomatoes and macaroni), can last a long time on that!
