The panels are in front of the garage thats 150ft away from the house.
When the house was built I put in various under ground cables from garage to house.
All used now. No more cables available.
No easy way to get cables accross now.
I am retired now. Soooo not a big problem walking accross every few minuets toooo

Nice to see a slight melt arrive today. A mighty 2.1kWh off the arrays! Amazing how such small stuff can still be cool and give the battery a tweak.

My failing memory tells of years gone by when Jan was a desert for PV gen. I am putting the improvement down to array growth but also higher awareness and improved power management.

That last pair really let us stretch the wee bit that we have coming in.

Hoping the thaw continues on Saturday and the top 6 best producing (sods law) least accessible panels are clear. A nice couple of hours today.

I’ve thought of doing the same thing. However the reality is that our dehumidifier struggles to fill its bucket without us lot showering, perspiring, cooking, etc..

I agree, we are down to one dehumidifier only running and it is set to 60%. Emptied every 5 days or so.

This way with the dehumidifier kicking in and out as required and with the new hive plug on a resistive heater set at 1.25kW I can reduce the stress of returning to a mostly unoccupied house in Winter. The big room at the rear is killer as it only has a 800W SH and one more 800W SH in an adjacent room. Hence the WBS in the big room, no use when Stonecold though!

I like this thinking as it's simply addendums to existing systems and removes one more slight speedbump in our move away from gas.



Without the WBS running it can be quite a brutal re-entey even with the SH's mostly on. I swear I saw her reach for the gas button when we came back after 4 days away at Christmas.

I really like these simple resistive heaters. 750/1250&2000W settings with a decent thermostat. Huge top grill to let the heat away quickly. Being honest, I still think its completely cool to be controlling the home from another country.

Hive smart plug count is now 15.

Post storm day felt like Spring. Blue skies and not cold. 5kWh PV generation. Dialed back some of the Storage Heater charge over last night which continues tonight and GF is seriously cranking.

It was great to do some solar power driven logging and splitting too.

Didn't fire up the WBS until 14.30hrs.

Been out with SWMBO in a local(ish) charity shop.

It was my lucky day. All brand new, got a 800W travel kettle, a 1.5kW single electric cooker and get this, a 216 led rope that pulls 14W.

All tested at shop and retested at home. Total cost... £5.50.

10% of retail and no landfill. Emergency kitchen & lighting during grid fail, ya dancer!

Moxi, I had not given that any thought. Jings, that is a Holy Grail.type moment. Paused for reflection there, yep. HG right enough. Booked SWMBO & her pal out to Turkish house for June to late June. Looks like Sept to be on the continent this year in the Bongo.

The kettle will be there.

Fortunate enough to also get a half Quid 3/4 ltr teacup too today, (discreets will come in handy). It will join us for 24 Euro trip.
