EV Charging Issues

#1

Post by AGT »

Just for info.

I have a egolf for the past 3 years charged perfectly fine for ages and then I moved to Octopus for a cheap night time rate, for a while no issues then VW updated their app to the most useless thing imaginable.

Difficulty in charging began with car not charging over night, deleting and reinstalling app, deleting car from octopus- waiting for them to get it added back on……

Needed a quick expensive afternoon charge and guess what, wouldn’t start, decided to look at charging lead.

Not sure what connections were meant to look like but decided to give them a spray of electrical contact cleaner.

Quick spray inside the terminals of both end of the lead, quick shake off, plug in and started charging straight away.

So maybe issues all along were electrcial connections not making full contact to allow charging and I thought it was software related, stopping the car charge.

Anyway good fix, glad it worked, might help someone else out

Last night’s charge was flawless, plugged it in and went straight to charge. So issue was not software and a little maintenance has resolved the issue giving me grief

Moisture build up maybe? Good to hear it is sorted. Is the working end of the lead stored inside when not in use?

It’s coiled up in the boot so maybe that’s the reason, just glad it was sorted as I was putting car into charge with 30 miles left and getting nothing and had to make alternative plans.

Another tick on the snagging list

I had this once as I had left the cable close to grass for a wee bit. Gave it a dry out and ok.

I also bought a second longer charge cable which.is connected to easeeone charger and coiled on bullhorns in the ventilated garage. 2nd fallback and test unit is the grannycharger. Boots do have a habit of condensation in the colder weather.

Glad it's OK now.
