Somehow I'm at 19th, Stinsy at 17th, yuff 5th and nowty putting us all to shame this time at #1.

IOG rinsing is hilariously broken from a gaming perspective.

Batteries: 14.4kWh LiFePO4 batteries (Pylontech US5000*3)

Are we still expecting a test SS before the end of the month? Doesn’t seem to be the weather for it, but I’m not sure that matters for a test.

We’ve had the minimum promised tests and one solitary single real session. What gives? We’ve had the cold calm conditions required for real SS but no dice…

Judging from the photo of Ratcliffe on soar power station they needed to burn a shed load of coal and it looks like they chose thatvroutecrathervthsnnpaying customers to save energy.
You really have to wonder who makes these decisions.
Still charging a levy on electric customers for dirty gas ……..

The whole “we need to leave the coal in the ground” thing seems to have escaped some people!

The next one is very difficult to predict, I doubt there will be any day left in Jan which will warrant one but as you say we have had them on normal days before just because we have to have typically 2 tests a month. They could even spring a morning one just because we have not had a morning one yet.

Wednesday the 24th looks possible as the wind is forecast to drop off during the afternoon and it shows the lowest generating surplus on the forecast.

If we end up on the 30th and there has not been one, then good odds for having one on the 31st, unless they decide to roll it over to next month. Still, the high winds will mean more chance of getting a IOG cheapslot at peak time and doing more rinse cycles. :xx:

The 24th has now 12GW surplus so that looks unlikely.

Next favourite is Monday 29th, we have had a test session with that much surplus before. :xx:

New info just out about the Flexibility Service (aka Savings Sessions) from the National Grid for the rest of this winter. This news is not unexpected because the reduction in the guaranteed minimum to zero was already planned for the second half for this winter's sessions. Unless they drastically reduce the service requirement volume I'm not expecting much of a reduction in payout as there are only 2 big boys Octopus (32%) and British Gas (21%) who control over 50% of the energy reduction volumes and they meet up during the planning stages.

https://www.nationalgrideso.com/documen ... 6/download

Summarising,
  • There is less need for Live sessions as we progress through winter.
  • Remaining Test sessions will be In-Day events, testing a range of scenarios.
  • The guaranteed minimum £3 / kWh will be reduced to zero on a competitive tendering basis from 1st Feb.

PS - I'm still clinging on to hope for Monday. :xx:
