Arqiva is just the radio comms company in a similar way to O2 or Vodafone is for the 3G mobile network. The data still goes to the DCC and the obligation is on them to ensure the 99% connectivity.

If your in the 1%, internet based hubs are currently being tested.

Any idea who’s doing the trials? Ie am I more likely to get things sorted if I switch to octopus already

I communicated with a nice chap at the DCC. WiFi based smart meters for the last 1% of us are not far away.

I’ve a smets 1. Octopus are claiming they can’t communicate with it for the intelligent Octopus go because of the smart pear adapter not connecting. This is despite 30 minute readings appearing. Smart pear’s website states the interface with s1 and s2. So despite having a communicating s1 meter I remain part of the 1%. How does that work

My company is on Octopus energy for business - gas and electric.
We have Octopus Panel Power for our solarPV export (15p/kWh)
And we're on Flexible Octopus for regular electricity import - (29p/kWh with a whopping £3/day standing charge!)

I've just discovered they have a "Shape Shifters" tariff, which offers a lower daytime rate, a super discounted night rate, but a high peak time rate.

Am pondering whether this could be a workable option for the business (and potentially falls into my business case for installing a battery to avoid the 4-7pm peak) but can't find any published info about the cost of the three rates or what the standing charge is. Does anybody else have any info?

Having seen the graphs Dan has posted before, that tariff is an absolute no brainer even without batteries.

Oh gosh it's a really good tariff - everything is cheaper - the peak rate is only 4p/kWh more, standing charge is £2/day less.
No brainer - will change this asap. Thanks team

Hmm - I notice a qualifying requirement is an annual electricity consumption of less than 20MWh/year.
Last year we imported 20.88MWh - hopefully that's not going to exclude us.
