Hi...New guy from Preston, lancs

Post by kennyrodgers »

Hi all, dropping by to say hello...
I'm Pete, 60 from Preston, Lancs...I go by and most everyone calls me Kenny (long story) except my Mum lol. My wife too..... unless I'm in the dog house then it's my Sunday name.
Just dipping my toe into home solar and battery storage...I have lots of experience with 12v solar/battery installs on motorhomes, mostly American one's...We have an American RV so I'm self taught and I've learnt along the way...I've put a few 12v Lifepo4 packs together successfully so it's now time to upscale things to 48V.
My goal with the home setup is to generate and store as much of my own power as I can with the limited roof space on a terrace house (4.3kw array) but I'll be DIY'ing my own 14kw battery with 280ah cells from EEL Battery in China. The plan is to use cheaper overnight power to charge the battery.
I have the Sunsynk ECCO 3.6kw inverter as my starting point, my panels are being fitted in a couple of days time and I'm just putting the funds together to order the batteries as soon as possible.
So that's me everyone...I'm looking forward to soaking up as much info as I can and hopefully be able to contribute where I can.
Cheers then and regards to all. :on-patrol:

Great stuff Kenny, and from my home town too.

A couple of threads worth a browse for your battery shenanigans,

Joyboy's epic thread making up a battery pack similar to what your thinking of.

Hi Kenny!

If you want “cheap overnight power” then Intelligent Octopus Go is the best tariff at 7.5p/kWh. You can even be on Outgoing Octopus at the same time where they’ll buy electric from you at 15p/kWh.

Loads of people on here have experience building home battery packs with LF280k cells so you’ll have no problem getting help. What is your plan WRT balancing? Are you compressing the cells?
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Welcome Kenny, a great track and still one of the most requested for our dance evenings.
They are a great bunch on here having helped me out on numerous occasions, so afraid I'm more a beneficiary than knowledge based but still keen to do all we can towards a cleaner future for the youngsters.
