Well, yes. I'd try pushing "N" to remove drive. As Nowty said, doesn't work on Tesla at any speed, but I can't test this as I'm without my car for a few days. On an owner's forum, another owner tested turning the whole car off from the stop/start button and was able roll to a standstill. And, if the design is correct, brake pedal input should take precedence over accelerator input - providing you're not pushing the accelerator while thinking it's the brake.Kommando wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 11:07 am If there was 'user error' and a carpet interfered with the pedal then there should still be an over-ride of some description. Again, only had the car over 2 years and did not know this happens, I've just tested it and my faith has been restored.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace won't stop...
You would kind of hope that all EV's would have the option to hold the power on/off button for a prolonged time to disengage power to everything but the brake and steering - seems like the easiest thing to incorporate globally as a standard requirement? We all know to do it for PC's phones etc so in times of extreme stress like when the car wont stop its possibly one of the few things that most people might think to try.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace won't stop...
Like other I realised I had an essential safety knowledge gap so I just did some quick checks for my EV6 and found:
In an emergency situation while the EV6 is in motion, you can take the following steps to stop it:
Turn Off the Vehicle: Press the EV button for more than 2 seconds or 3 times repeatedly within 3 seconds. This action will turn the vehicle off and place it in the ACC (Accessory) position. The steering wheel will be unlocked, allowing you to regain control. If the vehicle is still moving, you can restart it by pressing the EV button when the vehicle speed is over approximately 5 km/h (3 mph)1.
At least in my circumstance my go to intuitive solution would have worked !
It does seem like the motor industry needs to get together on this requirement though and get a common solution so everyone knows how to stop safely.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace won't stop...
Actually that's not true. When you're driving at speed, to put the Tesla into Neutral you have to hold the stalk upwards for about 1 second then it will go into N. This is to avoid it being done accidentally. But it works - this is how you can coast in a Tesla down hills should you wish.
And as mentioned above, with Tesla at least, if you push both pedals, it'll disengage drive in favour of brakes.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace won't stop...
My bold - Not on a Tesla, the amount of steering for a roundabout is pretty small, you wouldn't even need to adjust your hand positions, so the left hand would still be positioned on the indicator buttons. For the steering wheel to be upside down, you'd probably be manoeuvering 90d into a parking space, or something equally extreme, as that would be full lock.AE-NMidlands wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 6:38 pm https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-m ... r-68500233I heard a report that a minimum number of buttons - maybe including an indicator "stalk" - would be required in future (good) but I can't find it now. It reminded me of a comment here about indicator controls being in the middle of the steering wheel, I thought that was mad: what if you wanted to change lanes on a roundabout - when the steering wheel was quite likely to be upside down?A runaway electric car had to be boxed in between police cars after an electrical fault left the driver unable to brake on a motorway.
The driver of the Jaguar I-Pace had been travelling on the M58 at about 14:15 GMT on Wednesday before calling police to plead for help.
Officers were able to escort the car on to the M57 and then the M62.
It was finally halted 25 minutes later between Junction 11 for Birchwood and 12 for Eccles, police said.

I have just been out and tried shifting into neutral multiple times and holding for up to 15 secs and it stays in Drive.
Maybe its different on Dan's performance version or it used to but now does not with the constant software upgrades. I do have a bit of deja vu that it might have gone into neutral a long time ago, but my memory might be getting mixed up with driving the BMW i3 which definitely allows it.

Re: Jaguar I-Pace won't stop...
Weird. It's done it on both of my TM3s (Dual Motor and Performance) and I tried it in the Model S I had as a loan car once as I wanted to see how far it would coast.
You can also put it in reverse whilst you're still rolling forwards if you're below a certain speed (about 4mph I think) for quicker parking manoeuvres!
