New Octopus rates for April

#1

Post by richbee »

Got my email today about the new rates on Flux from April.

The units prices are dropping by about the amount I was expecting:
Import
day rate 27.8 to 23.3
off peak 16.7 to 14
peak 38.9 to 32.7
Export
day 16.8 to 14.3
peak 27.9 to 23.5

But - the standing charge is up from 55.4 to 69.1 - 25% increase!!! And that is supposedly with Octopus not passing on the full amount of the increase. How is that supposed to encourage people to reduce their amount of usage - when you have a fixed £250 which you can't remove or reduce

Ah, so normal Outgoing Export is now better than the normal Flux Export rate

Anywhere we can see the new Octopus tariff prices for April onwards? I'm thinking about going with Agile if that is expected to routinely beat the 14.3p overnight rate, and then swap to tracker over winter.

I'm on Flexible E7 with Octopus and they seem to be offering me a 12 month fix at the same rate as my April rate, I'm going to stay on flexible and see what happens.

I am in the same situation, seems no point in opting for the fixed rate if prices will drop again seems to be forecast.

There's bound to be an early exit fee, I can't it find yet, there are some people who will fall for it and then complain bitterly later.
I gather the 10p hike in the daily charge is to cover all the bad debts that the suppliers can no longer fix by pre-payment meters, maybe we are the mugs for paying our bills on time.

I’m on the Octopus Tracker for the last couple of months now prices have been pretty good most days can’t remember the last time it was above 20p. Standing charge is 48p/day hoping it doesn’t go up anytime soon.
