Northern Lights
Northern Lights
Ok - did anyone actually see the Northern Lights in the UK this weekend? I knew they were likely to be visible even in London, but somehow managed to fall asleep before 11pm so completely missed it.

Re: Northern Lights
Where I was on Friday night, they were only visible through phone camera.
Re: Northern Lights
Yes, late evening friday in west wales there was a very distinct red area right overhead and streching into the west, with with pale-ish looking shafts of light to the north. It was a bit hazy with only a few stars showing, so it was hard to tell if some of the pale bits were cloud or glow - except where you could see stars through them; i couldn't seem to set the phone camera to a high sensitivity so gave up on trying to take a picture.

Re: Northern Lights
Must have been too much light pollution where I was. The sky looked a little streaky, but when I took a photo of the sky, it was all colourful.
Re: Northern Lights
Ooh yeah - was absolutely incredible - all around & overhead - some colours with the naked eye, but far more vibrant with phone or camera. After playing with photos in the garden I nipped off to the local viaduct, stumbling down paths in the dark carrying my camera & tripod - but it was sooo worth it
