cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
I noted you placed the order via the Milton Keynes (mk) branch?
You might have got it sooner if you had ordered according to locality greater London (5 stores) watt East 3, Inc MK.
As if tomorrow wasn't soon enough! ..my order is still scheduled for tues.
You jammy git.
The reason we are buying this? ..Our used less than 6 times new job (bought before lockdown) from electrolux, failed & wouldn't re-set, making it very expensive *sh1te* indeed
electrolux appears to be just more over rated pish, so this ikea jobby will fill the need nicely for "nearly" veggie stir fry & charring sous vide steaks / fish.
(Less out of pocket if it dies prematurely too, by £320 to be precise)

Update, my first order from Ikea now also due for delivery between 9.13 & 10 this morning, text arrived at 7 a.m
The dumb thing is guys that our sous vide & our instantpot have in essence made a regular sized hob redundant, ..& the oven may as well be swapped out for a small but wide unit capable of accommodating a few oversize pizza's (but with decent heat insulation & retention) ..Modern kitchen life has changed & only a fool (or a pro chef) needs base an oven around the "how big a turkey can I cram in there", maybe once a year, (wasted energy heating void space the rest)

Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
Lots of people are fitting "domino" style 300mm wide single/double hobs these days instead of the traditional 4-ring. Even if you're not a takeaway/microwave family, a single hob ring and a slow cooker can easily feed a family scratch-cooked meals every day...

LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
Exactly, & people are a lot more attuned to cooking in a smart machine than a dumb oven.
Sadly I anticipate that the "Domino" type oven is as much heat leaking junk as it's predecessors, ..& There I hope to be proved very wrong!
16 inch needed for a 14 inch pizza (ends food otherwise)
(Love Morrisons fresh vegetable heavy store made ones with a decent splosh of garlic oil)

Unpacked & ready for use tonight. Came in an oversize outer with cross cut paper padding, a plastic bag cover & some plastic foam wedges, those wedges will be repurposed as crack draught fillers "somewhere" (likely the meter box cable entry points internally) other uses are for suppressing vibration on that noisy air-stone aquarium pump or under shed roofing eaves type thing.
Nice to finally put the mini camp stove (gas cannisters) back in its box under the kitchen units. In essence it has used 6 wee canisters since just prior to lockdown in 2020 ..no way would we want a daily standing charge for that fractional usage on mains

Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
When we fitted an electric hob I moved a camping stove and gas cartridges from the loft to the utility room to use in case of a power cut. Have never needed them to-date but I like that they are there.

Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
Yup, we bought it cheap for a one off outdoor use at a school fete (hot caramel for popcorn)
Thereafter it was for powercuts inside, (wood gasifier outside)
Therefore I cannot moan, its done far more work at £8 (often deemed festival junk) than a £300+ electrolux hob (non induction)
Who'd have thought it !?

Re: cheap IKEA single induction hob (portable) £35+ £4 delivery
My previous wife wanted a high speed spin washing machine. She got an Electrolux 1800rpm spin-speed which trashed the drum bearings at regular intervals and the electronic speed controller needed regular attention/replacement.
The 500rpm spin-speed Bendix was a far better machine. Only needed a door seal and new door catches occasionally - and a separate spin dryer before any drying operation other than mid-summer. The tumble dryer was a Bendix, too.
She also had an electrolux vacuum cleaner. Not bad, until it wore out (probably sooner than it should have).
So I’ve not bought anything, with an Electrolux label, for at least thirty years. We steer well clear, even though the factory is/was in Peterborough.
The hob arrived at about 10:15h.

Will be interesting to see a forum "take" on this product / tech.
First time bite at the induction hob Apple for us too.
