Also bare in mind people will go with popular brands, that doesnt neccessarily mean better quality.
Many brands require a quick training course or video etc by the installers to be recommended installers, and to make the wattanry valid.
So they will only ever offer what they are on record with.
Should make no difference really, an electrician worth their salt should be able to read instructions and make it work.

But ive had issue trying to get quotes for what i want myself, as everyone wants to force something trendy on me, like a giv energy, or tesla whatever.
Ask for what you want, they either dont respond or say no.

Other one is Sunsynk 3.6kw Ecco. Great invertor, a serioisly pants manual thats in essense a total waste of paper, but ive had great patient help from the contact centre with it when inhad to get some installer goolies corrected. Pleased with it. Can incubate eggs on the top of it though as it runs very hot -
Doesn't that point to it being less efficient if it runs hot?

Have you run it off grid?

My brother has bought a Renault EV and the Zappi charger is being fitted by Octopus next week. While his roof is ideal for PV he isn't keen but is looking at battery storage. I have suggested he look at a 6kW hybrid inverter for future addition of solar and Sunsynk looked a possibility.

No doubt its losing power due to the heat, but you can connect 7kw of PV through it (i have 5.45) and that keeps my batteries more than full so perhaps not the most efficent but it does for me.
Have noted that the cooling fan on the invertor only comes on at circa 4.2kw of generation going into the battery (and its pretty ineffective hence the common 'add on pc type fans below it), until that fan comes on it relies on the big heatsink on the back, which could probably do with being bigger. Invertor maxes out its solar battery input at 4800w from my observations

Not tried it off grid - dont know if even possible on my installation?

Sunsynk....yes they are top on the list of the inverters I am being offered. But a previous idea was avoiding inverters with fans....but you couldnt do that with a computer, and dont all inverters have inbuilt fans?
Not the clearest shot but pic of the three 80mm pc fans under my Sunsynk.
Work a treat, and pull the invertors temp right down when on.

Do you have the fans on a timer or other controller?

I was going to put them on a timer for the daytime only, as thats when the inverters temp lifts up when the suns powering things, but they are only Usb powered fans so more often than not i just leave them running 24/7 as they shouldnt pull much juice - one day i'll get around to digging out an old mech clock plug in timer and plug them in via that.

So do all inverters have cooling fans anway?
What are peoples thoughts on Solis and Duracell?

I think my Givenergy inverter is built onto a cast aluminium heatsink chassis with solid external cooling fins. It gets quite warm and so I left the [ed: outer porch] front door open when I noticed it was hot one afternoon as I don't think it will get nicked!

The battery page of the app shows its temperature, as does the inverter page, which I hadn't noticed before... Says it got up to 80.0 deg C after exporting for 3 hours at 3.6 kW on 26th June! Hope it doesn't get cooked...

Hmm Garage was quite warm this week. So looks like cooling is necessary for all

Anyway siting of inverter is a sideline...
Which inverter should I go for?
Anybody seen any comparison tables. I saw one I can post if links are allowed?
