Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Ah visited ‘James Bond Island’ many years ago, didn’t see Nick Nack or any Golden Gun henchmen looking after the Solex plant
Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Thanks for all the comments on the build so far.
Krill I don't live in a lighthouse but my house will have lights come any future power cuts, mind you so will most of my neighbours as many of them bought generators after a spate of longish power cuts.
Nowty the Solex definitely belongs with you
AGT the plant room was originally going to be my boiler room for a wood burning boiler and 1500 litre thermal store but a heat pump came along and ended that project and a trip to the scrapyard with the metal confirmed it.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Bought this wee AA &AAA charger off Amazon. Does 8 of any mix and runs off a USB C charge cable on a 4A phone charger etc. I am fair tickled by the wee charging graphic. Simple things eh?
I prefer it to this.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Made the swap a few years ago when the kids started playing games consoles, these things would eat the AA’s.
Invest red in Eneloop( spelling). And a charger in each of their rooms so they can manage there own stuff, good decision!!

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Now that’s really clever!
the’ really useful storage boxes’ as enclosures
Will be copying that!!

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Hopefully the BMS won't give off too much heat.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Looking good Ian, amazing how much even a small fan will reduce component heat. If need be you even have built in sidemounting for fans.

Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
Circular soffit vents would let the heat out and provide necessary protection to things falling i.e the insect mesh
Re: Idiot's guide to a self build battery
That's a good idea to keep in mind.
