I agree on Maplins, defo. Although tbh I was pretty much online buying before I knew of Maplins. Had a wee look at the end though.

The thermostat feedback switch arrived late this evening. Will set up tomorrow and hopefully will have a decent bandwidth so the fans aren't kicking in and out too often.

Dundee had a Tandy when I was growing up that was good, when I moved to Edinburgh 28 years ago Maplin was around the corner from my flat.

EBay became my go to for stuff

In the end Maplin became a bit of a rubbish, but was handy for the odd item you wanted then and there, I think it was good to go up and down the isles looking at products though.

Kept it simple, 40 degs fans on, 30 degs fans off. Once the sun makes an appearance and I'm happy with temp settings compared to reality of thermal gun readings I'll run it in longterm. Got some sticky back velcro that should hold the probe in place and insulate to keep reasonably accurate.

The automated cooling system (OOHHH!) is powered off the home stack batteries from the 2kW back up DC/AC inverter which keeps me covered on the remote chance that we see a grid failure. The Solaredge system will shutdown while the Victron keeps powering the batteries. The switch is £11.88 from Ebay. Rated to 13A, would be a simple way to automate a heater as it also has timer functions.

Simple yet effective.

On my unexpected 70W Victron production gain we'd need 14.285 hours running time at peak to achieve 1kW extra. Being brutal at the IO price of 7p per kWh i'd need 6,297 hours peak running hours to pay back the system.

That's 1,259 days if we could see a 5 hour window of Victron peak per day. Guessing at 100 days per year here when that is achievable i'll only need 12.59 years to get the cash back!

Edit-Tested at lower temperatures as demanded by the day. All good, kicks in and out with temperatures dropping quickly. Looking forward to seeing it operate at 3.2kW soon.

The sun has not broken through once today. Came close twice but nope. Reverted to Winter cooking style on WBS, chicken, prawn & cashew balti curry with all rice Water wbs heated too.

No grid touch but closer than I'd like.

We still managed 23+kWh's generation and that got the whole job done but nothing for the EV today. Odd in July. Great to see that the system can get it done in poor to weather. There was much dishwasher and multiple washing machine cycles plus a few into the HWT too.
