MCS certifier for DIY Solar PV installation?

Does anyone know of a MCS certifier for a DIY Solar PV installation please?
I've been let down by my electrician.
I fitted my own panels and the electrician that did all the AC work had just been on the MCS course and was going to do the certification has over a year later just told me he's given up trying to get registered:-(
After I complained to NCIEC he has today sent me an EIC for the March 2023 work. Chris

I did wonder if with enough suitable documentation, photos, video... it could be done without a site visit!

I did do this with a local installer to here. However, I know he wouldn't do it without installing anything. He was very sure he needed to do "something" here and fortunately was used to working with my regular electrician so they arranged what one would do and one would leave for the other. No chance of achieving what you are after with them I'm afraid.

However, that's not to say it's not possible but I think you will need to focus locally and get them to at least redo or double check a portion of the work so they have a reasonable bill for work to add to the job. That's not to say if you had a really good relationship with an MCS reg. electrician you couldn't get it done remotely but am guessing you would already be exploring that if that were the case.

I would phone and explain your situation and that you have been let down by existing electrician and let them know that you'll be happy for them to complete the installation to whatever level they require in order to get an MCS certificate. And of course pay appropriately. I doubt cold calling and offering cash for photos will get you very far.

We get this quite a lot, usually when the house is up for sale and the searches reveal the lack of some certificate of compliance for the gas or electrical system. It is actually quite a lot of work to go through the whole install and establish that it is safe and compliant with all the regs which costs quite a bit of time and uses specialist equipment. There is nearly always some cock and bull story as to why it was installed but not certificated, mostly boiling down to a cheapo job done by a "mate" and now I am being asked to sign a legal document declaring it all safe

Add in a cash job with no reciept AKA tax evasion.......and you can see why it is a pretty tall ask. I am not saying your install is dodgy in any way, but who know what it is??

I'd love to know what gas or electrical certificates are legally required to sell a house. I rather suspect (in fact know) that the answer is "none".

Of course conveyancers love their tick box list of meaningless requirements but the purchaser can decide whether to take any notice of them or not.

(I agree that a properly done post facto electrical inspection can be a lot of work.)
