Has your ginger been attacked by lily beetles? some of the leaves look to have their hallmark damage characteristics.

Moxi
I don't know about lifting part of the plant, I am leaving it in as long as possible.

The leaves are damaged because I left the ginger in the watery container too long and the end of the shoot got trapped in the cling film, so the leaves did not unwrap themselves properly.

I think I planted it out too late this year, next year I will put the ginger in the watery container around Feb and plant out late April / early May. Its in a nice sheltered South facing aspect which shades mid afternoon from a garden fence.

Ginger is still going although surely its days are now numbered approaching mid November.

That's amazing... my young fig tree in a big planter has already dropped most of its leaves.

The rest is newly grown very fresh ginger,Image

Not too much yield, but definitely it has grown some new root ginger, flavour and texture is awesome, less fibrous and fiery hot. :joker:

Fantastic, Nowty :D

My view on growing something exotic, irrespective of yield, is go for it.

Thinking about it, anything home grown has the potential to surpass shop bought in terms of taste and texture.

To taste something fresh and home grown is so rewarding - trouble is, the shop bought stuff just isn’t going to pass muster ever again.

New stem on a ginger plant I got last year at an Open Garden plant sale, not sure if it is the culinary variety but the flows do smell good.
