Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
Anyone else had the email about the half price IOG charging on Monday night ?
I received this email yesterday,
Maybe a taste of what's coming, i.e. only getting the cheap rate for the EV charging.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
Yes @Nowty, received loud and clear. Along with Smart charging I wondered if it might also include the Indra V2H trial? Either way think I'll have both in use just in case.
Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
I'll have to make sure I don't put too much in the EV today, then on Monday I'll be turning up the charge rate a bit.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
I’ve had the email, but the off peak slots are more valuable as we have a free public charger down the road.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
Not being familiar with the tariff or anything but if you can charge Monday but then can’t charge Tuesday are they really giving away half price power ? Are they just trying to spread the load a different way ? ie offer Nowty half priced power on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and offer Resy half priced power Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday. Surely it’s only half price if you can plug in at normal price the next day ?

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
I think its just a way of differentiating and measuring those who are changing their behaviour though the offer, rather than just giving everyone on the tariff half price charging. Its a post bank holiday offer so they are not offering different days to different folk.Moxi wrote: ↑Sat Aug 24, 2024 4:37 pm Not being familiar with the tariff or anything but if you can charge Monday but then can’t charge Tuesday are they really giving away half price power ? In any case, you still get the standard 6 hours of cheap rate on the Tuesday so I could still charge the second EV which is not on the smart charging regime.
But I won't be able to scam the Octopus for extra slots on Tuesday , like I'm doing today with over 16.5 hours of cheapslot.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
I have found that IO has been very slow to come up with a charge schedule the last 10 days home. As I'm discharging on export now most of the day I've taken to running a set schedule 23.30 to 05.30 and charging EV at full whack in that time period.
I'll try for cheapslots again in a couple of weeks. We are still an average of 50kWh export per day which seems quite excellent to my new export awareness.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
So what's needed is a 48v battery charger that looks like a car to an IOG integrated Zappi or Ohme. Probably not very difficult.

Re: Half Price Octopus IOG Recharge
I'll watch that develop with interest. A smashed Zoe on the drive then hack into the battery leads and fit an outgoing inverter?
I hope its not a sign of things to come and only a fact finding mission for a more flexible grid?
