Thanks, for the link. My own take on 12V car batteries is looking for about 5 Winters out of one, as they say 'Mileage may vary'Oliver90owner wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 10:01 amLots of lead/acid batteries fail soon after the warranty expires. Nothing new there. Modern battery chemistry is not kind for situations where the battery is not kept fully charged at all times. Every discharge and recharge cyle adds up.That's pretty crap service - and not great the battery failing after only 2.5 years
The factory 12V batteries on the I-5 are a well known weak link. Mine is coming up to two years old. I’ve never used the blue link app but often used to play the radio while parked - often until the car warned of auto shut-down.
Blue link has created a problem for some, at times, where the system keeps getting activated unnecessarily, multiple times. Leaving the car at below 20% state of charge, for the traction battery, was another reason for a flat battery (they now apparently recharge the 12V battery until 10% SOC). Dash cams, which don’t completely shut down, are just one more possibility for a parasitic load with the car off.
Mine was like one of these. Plenty of options with a search on epay for 12V battery monitor. I bought four at the time - one for each car battery and two for monitoring the batteries which run my chinese diesel heaters.

If the battery proves to be dead and is the only reason for the fault, I would be changing it soonest.
Interestingly (i hope), when I went in this morning and said about the permanent 4A draw and 5A charge rate from main pack to 12V the very nice service lassie went and got the dealership EV guy. I had jokingly said to the lassie " cars been fine for 2.5 years, had an ICCU recall last month, related?" Ha ha ho ho etc.
The EV guys comes through and I describe what is happening, straight away he says "oh yeah it'll be the ICCU recall"
Me Eh? Aye, the one that was updated last month?
Him Yeah, the latest ICCU recall has caused a drain fault on the 12V.
Me No way! Ah man, that's brilliant PMSL!!
Him Yeah we already had one in and Hyundai told the owner to take it away and drive it as they have not got a solution yet for the mistake made in the ICCU update.
Me Cheers mate, thanks very much for your time and I shook his hand.
I then spoke to the nice lassie and said any chance of the car being bumped up the diagnostics Q?
Initially it was going to be up to a fortnight wait. Once diagnosed and shown to be faulty the dealership can authorise a courtesy car for us but not before.
SWMBO driving me home and a message in saying "work on your vehicle has started". So that's good, big box of chocs for the lassies there regardless of outcome.
I'm not saying all ICCU recalls will result in this as we put different loads on the 12V, some will have been replaced and we run them in different ways . Thinking of the uptime on the EV when its charging from the drive pack to the 12V. Slow degradation of the stored 12V power until it just falls over.
I will update when i hear more but glad i've ordered a jump pack for going forward.
