It will likely cost you over a hundred quid extra for a dealer-fitted battery over a personal purchase and half an hour, or so, work (for you) to change it.
Hopefully they will, at least, fit a better quality battery than the OEM item……
Ioniq 5 broken.
Re: Ioniq 5 broken.
Aye I know, the difference is £80 and it's just a standard oem battery(62Ah) with 2 yr warranty. At £20 difference I could get a bosch with 3yr on it and fit myself in a few minutes. I'm OK with it as is, the car stays in the diagnostic bay overnight rather than pulling it out of the Q and starting again plus 50 mile of diesel too on one un necessary there & back again. Hopefully we'll know today if there is a parasitic draw on it.Oliver90owner wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2024 10:54 pm It will likely cost you over a hundred quid extra for a dealer-fitted battery over a personal purchase and half an hour, or so, work (for you) to change it.

I asked the lassie yesterday to ask the tech to check the blue link calls to car and they are within 'normal' range whatever that is. He could see on diagnostics a spike on the history when the cell went in the battery. Not sure if there is a date function on that to see if it coincides with the iccu software update. I'll ask.
Will try to get car back ASAP as we have a wedding in Edinburgh next weekend. The price difference in fuel and pollution for that run eats up any remaining price gain to self fitted battery.
I saw that N line again yesterday...

Re: Ioniq 5 broken.
Blue link is now offline. Further testing I assume...
Also learned a new acronym, 'PWA' Pre Warranty Authorisation. This may become important, who knows!

Re: Ioniq 5 broken.
‘Normal range’ might be OK for a battery in good condition, but not for a poorly one.
I shall consider recharging my battery on a ‘reconditioning’ cycle, with my CTEK MX5.0, after the car has had its first service (coming up in October). I know it can extend the life of Pb/acid batteries (but won’t work if a cell goes down).

Collecting car tomorrow. It was just the 12V. No extra draw found. Jump pack arriving today. Thanks again for that pointer Oliver.Oliver90owner wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 11:32 am ‘Normal range’ might be OK for a battery in good condition, but not for a poorly one.

I would be careful with the Bosch battery warranty as it looks good printed in big letters on the battery but is practically worthless in the real world if you ever need it - I know this from experience unfortunately and now will not buy their batteries as a result.Joeboy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:21 am Aye I know, the difference is £80 and it's just a standard oem battery(62Ah) with 2 yr warranty. I have always found Halfords batteries to be good value and as long as you keep the receipt. They honour their warranties on batteries. I was once able to get one exchanged by proving that the battery was not as old as the warranty was long using the manufacture date stamped into the battery plastic (as I had misplaced the receipt) and if you are lucky enough to get the trade discount then they can be good value.
Just something to be aware of
