Love your idea but ......... be aware..............
I have 3 panels on the vetical wall of my garage . I also have 3 panels (low down) on the side of the house.
Recently the extremeley overgrown hedge on our road has been cut back hard (much needed -was getiing very narrow and high) .
Have had a visit from planning control -very pleasent lady as someone has complained about them.
Letter today -planning permission required as not permitted development (on a roof no issue) -have 21 days to reply .

Really saddened at attitudes -they are not offensive and do not overlook any neighbour directly..........just now visible.
Want to remove them and paint house pink , but will go for planning . Planning control had no issues and said we expect no objections but rules is rules ...ffs.....
1750w Vertical PV micro inverters
3800w almost horizontal/south

Dream 3kw ASHP only connected to summer Pool.
Allotment heavy clay.

If they are on a house or garage wall, thats a building, hence as long as not protruding out 200mm from the wall, it’s permitted development unless living in a conservation area. What’s the reasoning why it’s not permitted development ?

Seen quite a few facade solar installs in multiple counties on my Euro travels.

You will need planning permission to install stand-alone PV (i.e. not attached to a building) if it is within 5 metres of the property boundary, or if it exceeds 4 metres in height, or if there is more than one stand-alone installation, or if the total panel area exceeds 9 sqm. or if a single dimension is more than 3 metres.
