Got to admit.that I still.think it completely surreal that there can be a 4x multiplier on a heating system. Doesn't even matter that I've got one in Turkey and second one going in there in a couple of weeks. I'm a bit cro-magnon in this. It's all still magic in my mind.

Had to switch on a few SH's for tonight onwards as we can't get from here to ashp on wbs alone.

I think this is heat pooling against the closed shutter? Caulk drying in dark lines.

Up at 2am thinking about gas boiler & hwc removal. I had assumed that is part of the contract along with flue removal. and tile replacement. I've asked the question now!

On the upside a nice mail in from Octopus with a gas meter removal pdf confirmation form to be replied to. One small step closer!

Usual late Autumn to early Winter trip to Lanza - got to keep the tan and endogenous vit D topped up.

This is the chill holiday - got the cultural trips out of the way in Spring/early Summer to concentrate on this years projects.

Main one was creating a sun deck and finishing off the garden ‘lounge’.

That is very chic! Loving the waterbirds. A lot of work has went in to make it look that good? Answer is in on removal of old gear through roof. It's a yes. Hopefully my last 2am moment on this job!

Yep, a lot of work over two Summers. Not helped by the fact we (me and Mrs BtB) carried all of the building materials by hand from the drive down 23 steps to the ‘site’.

All in - including the local stone removed from various bits of the garden - was about 20 tons.

Deck boards were reclaimed hardwood sanded and cut to size by us.

Stone bath the ‘ducks’ are in was ‘found’ in the garden - was a pig to move. Must have weighed about 100Kg.

Tried to use as much reclaimed stuff as poss - incorporated old roofing materials (stone) - coping and kneeling stones and parts of a stone mullioned window - in the walls we built.

Again, found in the garden.

The ducks were a present for Mrs BtB’s 60th from one of her friends.

What a great ethos, find swag in the garden and reuse. How old is the house to have accrued so much upcycle potential? I found a 2p in our garden once.

The house is from 1929 - we’re the third family.

We understand, though, that stables for a Coach House (1700’s) below us stood on the land.

The amount of, in my limited understanding, building materials contemporary and consistent with the coach house, makes me think the materials came from that.

I’d be surprised if they were imported into the site later.

We’ve got a few spots in the garden where there are lots of broken pottery and clay pipes.

We occasionally find the odd fossil (?Ammonite) ‘lose’ in the garden. The local stone (Moulham Stone) which have been used to build some of the boundary walls (and we’ve used in our projects) is very fossil rich - very easy to find exposed ones in the walls.

The only interesting bit of metal we’ve found is an old poker - think I previously posted a pic.

I’d love to properly excavate and understand the history of the site.
