HVDC Interconnectors

Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Cheers Krill, hadn't appreciated it was as simple as that, but certainly makes sense.
Guess most of us would be content in accepting a bonus when offered. Not that I've found many perculate their way to my level over the decades.

Well I'm just being cynical but I doubt that view point is wrong. I'm just thinking back to PFI hospitals. But look at water companies now.

The only stuff that private finance should be able to touch is the stuff that can fail without major consequence ie not water, not energy systems, not healthcare, not trains...
Solar PV: 6.4kW solar PV (Eurener MEPV 400W*16)
PV Inverter: Solis 6kW inverter
Batteries: 14.4kWh LiFePO4 batteries (Pylontech US5000*3)
Battery Inverter: LuxPowertek 3600 ACS*2
EV: Hyundai Kona 65kWh
WBS: 8kW Hunter Avalon 6 Multifuel burner (wood only)

I think the biggest connection will be when the "bootstrap" down the east coast is completed.

At the moment we are curtailing 6GW of wind, have net export c1.5GW and 5GW gas.

Wow Ken, so we're curtailing 5GW, but generating ~20GW, and wind alone providing nearly two thirds of our needs.

Goes to show what should be possible with more storage and more interconnection.

Happy days.
8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

Is there an easy way to see where the curtailment is?

Quite right, those two 2GW eastern HVDC cables from Scotland to England will make a huge difference and can't come too soon with all the additional offshore wind capacity that's being added in the meantime. Think both projects are expected to be commissioned before the end of this decade?

I haven't kept a close eye on those projects in this thread though as they're basically grid reinforcement within the UK National Grid, rather than a link to a completely different Power Network. But I suppose that depends on how far you take the definition of England and Scotland vs the UK! That's very much a different discussion!

You can look at them in real time.
https://renewables-map.robinhawkes.com/#5/55/-3.2
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 26MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

but what a shame that neither of "ours" show up on it...
2.0 kW/4.62 MWh pa in Ripples, 4.5 kWp W-facing pv, 9.5 kWh batt
30 solar thermal tubes, 2MWh pa in Stockport, plus Congleton and Kinlochbervie Hydros,

If its just a wind curtailment total you want then https://wind-curtailment-app-ahq7fucdyq-lz.a.run.app/
