ASHP & triple glazing

Found a 12/38mm airtight prefolded tape. It has potential to work with the 40mm finishing trim. Would have to find a 12.5mm thick product that doesn't fracture when cut thin as plasterboard does. Hmmn...
Then I found Aerosana Visconn and fell right down the rabbit hole!

That's reads to me as if visconn combined with a quality low expansion foam gets the job done for airtightness?

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Last one from me for a bit. That was an interesting day. I've found a slow expanding frame fitment tape (for 65mm frames, mail sent to maker re 90mm frames), quality low expanding foam which will add to the r value in a tiny way as well as keeping the air out externally as well as internally and also an airtight membrane to brush onto the low exp foam that can bridge 3mm gaps and remain flexible.
SWMBO reiterated her wish that there be no plastering and minimal dust. Internal tape is right out the window (hah).
I'll see what the surveyor & fitter say but I'll be happy with the low expansion foam and brushable airtight membrane as my solution if there is resistance to the trufit tape. Interesting times ahead in a few weeks.
I'm glad I went hunting and found these products. Good to find that technology and product development keep evolving.
I then had a serious think to myself about tapes, structure, substrate, longevity, various water levels, windspeeds and atmospheric moisture as well as build stability, expansion & contraction, the multiple strategies touted online as best practice and realised that it's all arse. Do what your budget & situation dictate with an eye and hope on longevity. No two same situations.
CP, thank you for your help, very much appreciated.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
This is the compressor unit being replaced tomorrow.
This is it's power sticker
This is the sticker off out current A2A HP which has been in for about 7 years.
Note the triple capacity yet less power on the A2A HP. Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings.

3?
There was only one person involved when mine was fitted!
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger
(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Job done in 1 hour, it is excellent!
Split unit removed
Old pipework broken out of wall
All new installed.
Both internal and external units are silent, will hook up the WiFi later. Very glad we did this.
Power drop is nuts in comparison to old unit.
Edit, post test, 22 degs is far too cold, polar bear territory! Switched off now, will try heat function tonight. Incredible bit of kit, much smaller form than old one both internal & external. More bang, less power draw and silent. How good is that? One more compressor system here to be changed on failure to inverter style.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Did you notice whether they reclaimed the gas or simply vented it ?
I believe if the system is still working there is a procedure for getting most of the gas back into the base unit and then shutting off the valve.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
Didn't see that as friends round during the removal and Install. I do know that they tried to sideslip the removal of the old units and would have been away like stabbet rats if they could have leaving the old split system on the upper balcony for me to dispose of.
That didn't happen, Q much wincing and oh its really heavy action (which tbh it is being older larger tech..
Going on that, they likely vented to atmosphere although I did see a gauge set & pump when they were leaving.

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
I believe that we are the only country that worries about venting! Many places it isn't standard practice to vac the system down, they just purge the air releasing gas into the atmosphere...

Re: ASHP & triple glazing
TBH thats what I was expecting.
I wonder whether we will still try and reclaim it when we move to propane refrigerant (R290), it would seem a bit over kill.
