Did you notice whether they reclaimed the gas or simply vented it ?

I believe if the system is still working there is a procedure for getting most of the gas back into the base unit and then shutting off the valve.

I believe that we are the only country that worries about venting! Many places it isn't standard practice to vac the system down, they just purge the air releasing gas into the atmosphere...

TBH that what I was expecting.

I wonder whether we will still try and reclaim it when we move to propane refrigerant (R290), it would seem a bit over kill.

There is a row about F-gas and R290. There is no environmental reason to retain the F-gas requirements so it will turn into a job-creation scheme!

Wish I had fitted several years ago on previous properties as well.

Yep, 5 mtrs away and recording lows of 30dB with the unit running in cooling & night mode.

Ran a quick check on the figures supplied on old & new unit power stickers and converted to a handier kW figure.

A2AHP
2.65kW cooling @ 1100W
2.65kW heating @ 870W COP of 3.

Compressor A/C
2.14kW cooling @ 2290W
2.14kW heating @ 2900W

That is outrageous .

Final cost supplied, fitted and commissioned £545. I have no idea how that compares to UK prices but I'll leave it up for reference.

I worried for years that a constant draught of slightly warm air from a A2A wouldn’t make for a comfortable house. However it is brill, feels toasty warm within a few mins of turning it on.

The low-and-slow power draw plays nicely with an inverter and they’re simple to remote operate.

I totally agree, the warm draft is bliss and if you have a WiFi one you just control it from your phone from anywhere.

MrsResy sometimes sets up the clothes airer in front of our A2A, very comforting to see the gentle flapping of the clothing whilst knowing its sucking the damp out of the air at the same time. Extra bonus.

Some bit of kit the old A2A HP. Cooling, heating, dehumidifier and tumble dryer all in one unit. The new unit out here has charcoal filters so it's an air purifier too. I'm pretty sure I'll change out the last A/C compressor type system here next year even though it's in the spare room and only sees a couple of weeks use per year. I will enjoy the silence.
