1GW+ of Batteries on Grid Tonight

#1

Post by nowty »

I note wind is a bit low and the dark nights have arrived and we are even exporting to the Dutch and Denmark.

I checked Terravolt website and added up around 1GW currently discharging into the grid. There may be more not on there as Gridwatch is showing 2GW of "other".

Also 1.5GW from pumped storage and nearly 0.7GW from hydro.

Thats about a HPC size'd amount of power (3.2GW) for the peak period.
18.7kW PV > 109MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 26MWh generated
5 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 510 m3

I wonder how loudly these commercial battery operators will be lobbying against saving sessions and power hours? The last thing they need is consumers stealing their margin!
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

(Artist formally known as ******, well it should be obvious enough to those for whom such things are important.)

They've been complaining since last years saving sessions. :teapot:
Solar PV: 6.4kW solar PV (Eurener MEPV 400W*16)
PV Inverter: Solis 6kW inverter
Batteries: 14.4kWh LiFePO4 batteries (Pylontech US5000*3)
Battery Inverter: LuxPowertek 3600 ACS*2
EV: Hyundai Kona 65kWh
WBS: 8kW Hunter Avalon 6 Multifuel burner (wood only)

Stacking will be allowed for DFS so they may be joining in, I suspect the public participation in saving sessions will wither away.

It's staggering how quickly that that amount of battery storage has appeared on the grid. I guess there's about 3-4 hours worth of actual battery output at that power level.

I suppose the more BESS there is on the Grid, the less profitable it becomes for them though as there is more energy available at all times? I'm sure we're a long way off that being an economic factor!
