Barely any wind. Good job it’s not cold.
It peaked at £175 / MWh around 4.30pm / 5.00pm.

Going to be a similar re-run tomorrow, not only low wind for us, but very little wind around Denmark or the Netherlands to help us out on the interconnectors. We were exporting to them at peak time today.

One of the good things of having interconnectors to France (nuclear), Belgium (nuclear) and Norway (hydro) is they are very reliable low carbon generators to us even in low wind conditions.

The saving sessions facebook group is reporting it might be another couple of weeks before OFGEM approve the official start of the Demand Flexibility Service.

My variable tariff is up to 25p/kWh today - definitely signs of a tight capacity and a lot of gas.

Oh yeah I know I'm still doing very well on it relatively speaking - its definitely giving me sufficient price signals to help me reduce my consumption on days like this - definitely won't put the washing machine or dishwasher on today!

Is there an actual upper limit cap on the Agile import tariff? I had a vague memory of something improbable £1/kWh or something like that?

yes its capped at 1 pound presently according to the tariff blurb, I have read in many places, forums and blogs that agile is a good option in spring and summer but then lots of people dive for cover and go on to another tariff to ride out the winter periods - which surprised me a bit given the amount of WT production the UK now has but I guess the transmission issues, longer night conditions and low pressure calm weather conditions as we are experiencing now - have a big role to play in the autumn / winter generation mix.

I seem to recall a similar week or so of ultra calm dull weather last year too or maybe I am making that up?

Anyway only 2 days to go until I sign my sole away to the SMETS2 devil  still not sure if its going to be  or :ugeek:

Yeah we had a period of Dunkelflaute last year too. The grid didn't collapse then.

:D Thank you dan - I learned something new today and will endeavour to remember it! so an anticyclonic gloom is now Dunkelflaute, thats brilliant

Less brilliant is the awful first few days of generation for November ! I havent scraped above 2kWh/d so far this month.

I have one more 400W panel to place and then I need to buy some more - probably 500W panels I have a position across the road that needs a new fence line which I am considering as a mounting point, it is about 10 meters long and arcs from WsW to W. The breeze block retaining wall has been left in such a way that I can drop 2.5ft of unistrut channel in and concrete to give the upright "posts" a firm anchor then its a case of mounting the panels at around 75 degrees from the vertical to get the best of the sun and shed a little of the 90mph Westerlies that they could potentially face periodically in that position. Got to be sure of its rigidity though as its where the three family cars are parked and if I damage any of those with flying panels then I will never hear the end of it! Thought I would check as I wrote and according to PGVIS 30 degrees gets me better generation even in January and its a LOT less wind loading so I might consider that as an option and try to design a suitable unistrut frame that will do that job, knowing thare are some easier due south "garden mounting option" wins to also consider.

Anyway I digress- again

cheers Dan,
