Me n swmbo are going for a balloon ride. She is scared of heights but said, nup, I'm doing it! :)

This should make up for my lack of NG use the last few years.
Ooh, I'm not that far from you, in Kemer in a hotel that proudly claims to use 100% renewable electricity -it's certainly got a fair few panels on the roofs I can see. No fun balloon rides for me though, just 8 days straight of technical conference.
(I did sneak off for half an hour this morning to have a swim in the sea though ;) )

Cool, we're about 1/2 way towards Ankara. Seen some mightily impressive cities. Konya too a bit from now. Had a P stop (20p), washed hands and then bought a T. (40p). Enjoy the swimming Stig!

Will do, rocket style pellet stove where we are staying and I particularly liked the qr code menu. Tattie cooker mid flue too. View is incredible.

Loving the stove Joe, especially the flue ‘oven’. Not sure if the installation would pass muster here, but, it works :xl:

Always been fascinated by Cappadocia - was ‘entertained’ at a scientific meeting in Istanbul - Whirling Dervishes, video, other dancers etc.

It was the limestone ‘structures’ and landscape that just were mind blowing.

Have a great, probably once in a lifetime, experience.

Looking forward to the pics.

Guys, I've been walking about this place, mind absolutely melted. Stunned by the geography, the people. Well worth adding to your personal lists. It's not that far.

Pick up at 05.20 for up uppity up! :)

1,000mtr altitude here. The air is magnificent. Got down to 2degs on the bus overnight starting from 24 or so in our town. We walked out our Turkish house yesterday with a couple of day packs. Jumped the dolmus to Marmaris otogar , quick bite to eat then.onto the hilariously named Kamil
Koc overnight hudgeycart to Cappadocia. Plenty stops, plenty chai, plenty legroom and business class style seats. Got off 13hrs later and all the balloons were up. 06.30hrs and we just wandered among the fairy chimneys gazing up. Balloons were as low as 50ft above out head up to 1,000's of ft.

If all goes well tomorrow I reckon we'll be back. It's easy enough and feels quite a bit like an adventure.

Took Mrs BtB for a glider flight for her 40th, though she thought it was a champagne picnic.

Got called all names under the sun, she had the best part of the bottle and, against her inner fears, did it.

She still would not do it again but was happy /( ) she’d done it.

Still gives me grief about it
