Adding additional batteries after initial install

#1

Post by AGT »

Morning,

Wondering what the groups thoughts/experiences are with adding additional batteries as funds allow, is there a determental affect to the existing/new batteries at all?

Just wondering if anyone has any insight they could share.

We added a 5K Pylontech to 1 year old 10.5 K existing, once the BMS sorted itself, no problems.

There is no problem doing this whatsoever! Me and loads of other people on here have done exactly that.

There are some proprietary systems of battery/inverter where the battery "cannot" be upgraded but I'd avoid those where possible. Certianly Pylontech and other similar systems are simple to upgrade.
12x 340W JA Solar panels (4.08kWp)
3x 380W JA Solar panels (1.14kWp)
5x 2.4kWh Pylontech batteries (12kWh)
LuxPower inverter/charger

Nothing, just doing the armour /data/cat6 runs for hybrid inverter in detached garage (30m from Incomer)and was going to go straight for 2x15 kWh batteries
So was just thinking about isolation, back boards, etc and then thought as long as i size right first time, cost effective adding a second unit would be easy but wasn’t sure if it then complicated things hence the first post.
