I don't think I need that big a panel. Even 500W will be plenty. Tempting though it is. I'll see how much power No1 & I get through on our two day New Year break. Thank you Iain. It was indeed the antifreeze drain valve for the heater. 
Bust out and replaced three locks last week letting me get into the water side domestic on the van.
That's the dual fuel fridge freezer, dual fuel space heater and dual fuel HW tank tested along with domestic water pump, both sinks, shower & toilet, gas hob, oven & grill. Hell, even the water tank level works.
A single AA battery and replaced a dry gas cylinder. Currently water tank is topped off soaking overnight with sterilising tablets.
Badge arrived for the habitation damage repair.

First solar pv shenanigans commenced at van. Stereo tested with an old Bluetooth unit into the stereo aux port. Blasting ABBA out good style I'll have to install a switch so I can flick the stereo onto LB when stationary and ignition off.
Also fitted an external pir sensor led light above door and another at first step into van. Both running rechargeable batteries and brilliant inexpensive upgrades.
Tried out the stability Jack's too and greased them up with silicone oil. Really good moving about inside.

Me n No1 son wound out the Famma awning on the van the other day. It has an approx 10" tear in the awning itself out at the edge & corner (worst place really). I've ordered some waxed white twine and a big needle.
Me n swmbo were in an Edinburgh charity shop this morning and I just thought to ask the lady if they had any sailmaker needles. I expected a no. Off she went into the back shop, had a rummage (she knew exactly where to look) and came back with this bad boy. She also found me a small folding sewing kit for the van. What a wonderful lady!
Total cost of antique serious needle and folding sewing kit?....£3.
I'll have a crack at a full seam stitch next time the weather plays nice. I reckon we'll get this awning all the way back and fully functioning again with just the one life scar to show. Gotta love a charity shop on 30th Dec!

The awning is huge! I'm thinking of some semiflexible sealer to pour on neatly to plug the stich holes and stop them tearing in a breeze. I've got JB weld marine?

It might be worth sticking clear gorilla tape to one or both sides of the awning.
