Any news worthy story. Good things to watch at the Cinema, Theatre, on TV or have you read a good book lately?

Interesting - so Nederwiek 3 is a proposed 2GW offshore wind farm as part of a 3-stage, 6GW site.

an interesting article for this thread (or others...)
https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c4gx74d06ywo
Nato has launched a new mission to increase the surveillance of ships in the Baltic Sea after critical undersea cables were damaged or severed last year. Nato chief Mark Rutte said the mission, dubbed "Baltic Sentry", would involve more patrol aircraft, warships and drones.
His announcement was made at a summit in Helsinki attended by all Nato countries perched on the Baltic Sea - Finland, Estonia, Denmark, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Sweden.

While Russia was not directly singled out as a culprit in the cable damage, Rutte said Nato would step up its monitoring of Moscow's "shadow fleet" - ships without clear ownership that are used to carry embargoed oil products.

Well well well, it seems the Iceland-UK HVDC Interconnector might be back on the agenda. After zero updates since 2019, it looks like "Atlantic Superconnection Energy" has raised £30million in order to get the project planning along to the "Financial Investment Decision" (FID) stage.

Hmm. Will keep an eye out!

I am surprised at that, I thought that the Icelanders had major reservations about the implications of it for them and their environment.

p.s. so far I have found https://www.savingiceland.org/2018/11/t ... /#comments which makes the point that hot groundwater has some nasty contaminants - and I hadn't expected SO2 - although as lots of metal ores are sulphides it should not have been a surprise.

Nice find! Not sure it quite reaches the UK shores though! Although at about 1000 miles, the Tasman sea is a fair old distance - but certainly seems to be well within the technology capabilities. Good idea I reckon.

Despite being rejected by the Secretary of State back in 2022, it seems the proposed 2GW AQUIND Interconnector is the project that is still fighting for its life. The developers are looking to take legal action against the Govt, and possibly the MOD, for the planning refusal claiming it has not been treated equally to other similar interconnector projects particularly regarding the MOD stating "national security concerns".

The plot thickens!
