Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Gas market is tight, day ahead price yesterday (i.e. for today) was highest in over a year.
Day ahead Leccy price only dropped 12% after surging 50% the day before and year ahead price is also highest for around a year too.
https://zenergi.co.uk/market-watch/
"AGSI data shows that EU gas storage has slipped to 59.38%. Uncertainty surrounds the EU’s ability to replenish these stocks for next Winter; last year was assisted by the fact that some of the highest average recorded temperatures across Europe were experienced - therefore a cooler year could present problems in combination with the near non-existent Russian flows to Europe."

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Its ok unca Donald is going to reset the oil and gas production button in the USA and we will have loads of cheap gas to burn instead of this green cr@p
On the plus side if done right this action by Unca Donald might afford a degree of stability to gas pricing while "sensible" governments continue to diversify generation and increase green energy sources - question is - how many Governments will be "sensible" ?
Not a fan of Mr Trumps ways and means in general but in this instance if he's doing this anyway I don't see why we shouldn't see it as a leg up to get further ahead in the energy transition program, I just worry about the countries that will see it as a case of panic over - resort back to previous practices.
I do also wonder if his posturing on this is as much a signal of intent to Russia to get their house in order because their revenue stream from energy will remain under pressure for the foreseeable future ? That in itself is not a bad thing if it moves everyone globally closer to negotiated peace.

Octopus rejected at 30p / kWh.
Bids 15p / kWh and under were accepted.
I suspect Octopus won't accept anything were they cannot give approx the flexible tarrif rebate for leccy which is around 25p / kWh.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
Shouldn't need any tomorrow, given the wind levels forecast - or will it be too strong, so meaning the turbines have to be furled??
Forecast is over 70mph up here!! Highest I've seen the forecast in the 7 years I've been up here - hoping that everything stays tied down

Should be a power hour tomorrow!richbee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:05 pm Shouldn't need any tomorrow, given the wind levels forecast - or will it be too strong, so meaning the turbines have to be furled??

Quite the opposite it seems,Stinsy wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:20 pmShould be a power hour tomorrow!richbee wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2025 12:05 pm Shouldn't need any tomorrow, given the wind levels forecast - or will it be too strong, so meaning the turbines have to be furled??

Day ahead price for leccy (i.e. for tomorrow) has jumped 67% this morning to over 26p / kWh and its the highest for well over a year. Suspect the risk is serious storm disruption to the energy networks tomorrow.

EDIT - Will check the Agile prices later to see if there is any correlation.

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I have now checked the peak time Agile prices for tomorrow and they are similar to today, circa import at 40p / kWh and export at 20p / kWh. Non of the prices on offer tomorrow look low enough for a power hour.

Savings Sessions results are in.
I managed to save a 0.27kWh across the two most recent sessions. Not exactly game changing!

Re: Octopus saving sessions coming 1st Nov
I am not sure why my kWh’s saved are different for each of my last 2 sessions. As they were on consecutive days the baseline should be the same and I exported almost identically each time.
