100A fuse no longer allowed
Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
We used to use a 1.5multiplier for fuses so a 80 amp fuse would hold 126 amp for 1 hour
Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
Would cooling on the fuse enable it to last at higher amps for a period of time?

Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
Probably because as the fuses get hotter, the electrical resistance increases and therefore increases the amount of power dissipated in the fuse leading to a positive thermal feedback.
I used to do the air cooling trick back in the day of having a 60A fuse.

18.7kW PV > 110MWh generated
Ripple 6.6kW Wind + 4.5kW PV > 32MWh generated
7 Other RE Coop's
105kWh EV storage
60kWh Home battery storage
40kWh Thermal storage
GSHP + A2A HP's
Rain water use > 520 m3

Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
I have never heard of a fuse blowing.
Best not look at my house, its the wrong side of 150A possible but i would say prob 0%

Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
I appreciate this is silly, but couldn't help chuckling at the irony, if the fan consumption was the straw, that broke the fuses back! Irony overload perhaps?
I assume that water cooling is out of the question?

8.7kWp PV [2.12kWp SSW + 4.61kWp ESE PV + 2.0kWp WNW PV]
Two BEV's.
Two small A2A heatpumps.
20kWh Battery storage.

Re: 100A fuse no longer allowed
They can’t just change fuses down automatically, as some people will have paid to have a 100amp fuse….
Not sure how this is recorded in DNO land…
But don’t think the person fitting smart meters will have access to check this?
