What with the comms dropping out to our hybrid inverter since the weekend I've been manually over riding the ashp to heat tank and laterally driving up the heat curve to power dump into the house air. It's a crude workaround for a system I should have more falability designed into.

My point is that even with trashing my heat curve to dump power remotely we are still seeing figures like these.

Thanks all, I certainly will be chasing for compensation, it's directly costing me money in lost wages as well, three hours today.

Senior Vaillant engineer coming Monday, hopefully he'll get it working so we can have hot water. Installer says they will still insist on a replacement unit, luckily they are of the same opinion as me.

The engineer is here. The reason he couldn't come Saturday is because we've been in Manchester all weekend (we got back at 13:35 today), we drove up Friday. Our daughter ran the Manchester marathon yesterday in 4 hours 47 minutes, first full marathon she's done, and we're very proud of her.

Vaillant are a nightmare to deal with, we had a call from them Friday trying to book the engineer for Saturday, we explained we were away and would be back about 2pm Monday. They then came back to us and said they'd send him Wednesday, I explained that would mean more time off work for me, and could they come for 14:00 Monday. She phoned back and said they'd arrange for the engineer to be here for 14:00 today.

Last night I get a text saying the engineer is booked for an AM appointment, if there's a problem either change the appointment online or phone the number given in the text. Can't do online as it's not linked to my account, and the phone number is for gas boilers, they then put you through to renewables where you start going round in circles to try and find the right option, which we gave up doing whilst driving. Even though I'm on hands free we lose view of the satnav screen, not ideal when driving through a town!

I stopped and messaged the installer who phoned me back pretty quickly, they really are on our side, and it did good for my wife and daughter to hear what he had to say. He chased Vaillant, and confirmed details, that was 9am. 9:21 the engineer phoned and said he'll be with us about 11:00 - 11:30, he wasn't impressed when I said we wouldn't be there, and explained why. He was coming from Luton, and clearly wasn't expecting a potentially late trip back. Anyway he asked what time we expected to be home, then said he'll phone back, which he did and he confirmed he would be waiting for us, which he was.

My installer is still pushing for a replacement unit, and by all accounts they've certainly kicked up a stink at Vaillant, even pointing out how ridiculous it is that the immersion can't be used due to a fault on the heat pump.

He's sussed it, lump of solder had dropped across the terminals on the refrigerant low pressure sensor in the heat pump.

Glad to hear they have found the cause of the fault not being able to use the immersion must be a Unistor thing as I was able to use the immersion on ours (250L Vaillant HWC) during installation.

Surely the whole point of the immersion is as a backup in case of a fault with the HP‽

Don't think I posted on here, but the cause of the fault was a drop of solder stuck inside the low pressure sensor shorting it out.

Yes, it's a uniTower thing - see below

In the uniTower the immersion is separate to the tank, its in the primary water circuit, this means that if the weather is extremely cold and the heat pump can't generate enough heat then the immersion can work in tandem with the heat pump, so we effectively have 7kW + 6kW, make 13kW heating capacity. Seems a good idea in principle, but it means the uniTower requires the water pump in the heat pump to pump the water round the tank. My installer didn't realise and has had a go a Vaillant by all accounts, as it seems really stupid, as the immersion should be a backup if the heat pump fails.

Something else the Vaillant engineer discovered, the flow and return was connected back to front! Apparently those trainee's were supposed to check. Plumbers been out and switched them over, not pretty but he said it will all be replaced when the AHSP is replaced.
