And if we don’t run our washer at 90℃ At least once a month it starts to smell.

Nearly all our washes get done at 40C and that includes reusable nappies covered in poo. Occasionally, when it's sunny, towels and nappies get a hotter wash but for routine washes 40C is fine, even for poo.

Ours is only run at 300C on a quick wash. Everything in together, one wash a week - usually. All line dried - wash to the weather forecast.

All good, even the occasional whites. Machine doesn’t smell - door left open for 24 hours post wash.

No poo-y nappies though ;)

I do run the machine once per year during the summer at 90 degrees with a dose of washing machine cleaner to rid any residue build up.

I did suggest the 30 degree wash to SWMBO but that's never going to fly.

Today is going to be another struggle as SWMBO is threatening an ironing marathon and the start of the cheap slot at 23:30 is too late. But the milder weather conditions might save the day as there will be less heatpump running.

As previous, I honestly don’t see the point in ironing. If things are hung to dry then folded when taken from the line, there really is no need.

Helps that shorts and t-shirt is our dress code - well, mine anyway

I wondered if the solution to your issue may lay down that path with a set of stand alone charged batteries to give SWMBO sufficient iron time ? Being the romantic that I am I thought you could consider the options and then surprise the good lady on Valentine’s Day with said battery fleet and iron ! Where is that head smack emoji when you need it ?
Well the ironing station will be running off the house batteries anyway, but SWMBO requires a decent steam generating Ironing station and her ironing sessions can go on for hours, although the waste heat from it heats indirectly heats the house a bit.

I can guarantee, I battery iron is a non starter, a bit like suggesting a 30 degree washing machine cycle. ;)
