Some of you will doubtless already know & use the app, but for those who don't...
Recently, & in a time of xmas excess (for the majority) I downloaded the too good to go app (android & iphone availability)
https://toogoodtogo.co.uk/en-gb
Dialled in locally thru to "within 30km" of address, bunged my card details in (you reserve & pay) & tried as local a "lucky bag" as can be at my village shop, for £3.09 it was a selection of deli meats (Beef slices, pot of cream @470ml ? some curried chips & a few other bits & bobs... which was ok.
Our daughter now a coffee drinker & early riser sometimes pops into costa's & greggs on the high street of our market town (greggs is ideal for her to stop & grab a lucky bag on her way back from school at around 4.30pm, ..yet to try that, but the point is less driving makes the deal sweeter right?
(that one is yet to be reserved)
With the daughter downloading the app onto her phone (but dad paying) she showed it to her mum whilst out driving the leaf ( driving test coming up) & tied in an evening collection with a coffee break, ..wife got a costa lucky bag too & was impressed, basically enough office lunches / breakfast on the hoof items to see you over a good few days of a working week, tuna melts, chicken melts, cheese & beans on toast sandwiches, vegan "bacon" baps etc..
I just tried the vegan bacon bap (this morning) which whilst the roll was good the vegan costa bacon from a big company was bacon shaped, texture but really, no taste whatsoever, it was akin to a flat-lining heart monitor. ..never mind, plenty of other nice stuff, & next time i'll add some salt & hendersons relish or owt.
Part of the reason my wife was keen to sample the "too good to go" app, being that as a nurse she snacks & eats irregularly, but also works with low paid carers & patients / families in a variety of scenarios having left her old job (silicon valley funded money & unhealthy, evil attitude) & joined a local company expansion (run by another qualified nurse not london office management) ..so this weekend she was keen to sample a variety of the apps wares to be able to be able to vouch for it to a variety of people.
M&S ..now that was a goldmine, multiple good quality ready meals, very fresh salads (with HB egg / HB egg & meat) speciality pre-cooked sausages, indian meal starter tray, fresh kale, ..& so on ..all in paper bags, (yay) great quality (but a 9pm pick up time) ...met another app user there.
Then Sunday night, a local waterside carvery (£3.99 this time) massive choice of vegs, ask & the staff filled a BIG meal tray (takeaway, plastic) with whatever you wanted, ..vegetarian roast option here also) which she couldn't finish (so I did)
The likes of SPAR, NISA, GREGGS, M&S, Morrisons, Costa, Starbucks, Pret, Yo (sushi) greene king, various restaurants, bakeries, hotels (IBIS) & the like participate, not all have things every day, it is split into "lucky bags" breakfasts, lunch, dinner pick ups so could suit a variety of people, i'm keen to try a chinese cafe in cambridge who are on the list.
If you have any reservations, don't, & if you have an M&S (store or petrol station shop) then try them first, ..as the wife said, why would I go for Morrisons when M&S quality is available? ..good point.
Typical price point was £3 for around £12 of foodstuffs.

Used this app quite a few times as and when we are passing a suitable shop - it’s a good system

Turned out that half the office staff (men) already use it for their lunch foods etc, good to see a wide used base, ..our costs lucky bag was very "vegan heavy" ..but the success there was that both wife & kiddo were "duped" by the quorn based vegan by a chicken & cheese Labour's ..meaning they will be more accepting in the future of alt offerings.
(That bacon though, ..oh dear, long hill to climb)
Must say, the link's & rolls were of excellent quality & freshness, "dates be damned"
Please consider the non invasive phone app.
Last night we widened the search on wife's iPad to chamonix & sallanches ..nice to see participation there, of which we'd avail ourselves of a bag of two whilst travelling abroad (& why not)
..covid travel allowing.
